Chapter 4

Two months had passed since Kevin's wedding had taken place and Kara was expecting that phone to be ringing anytime with the upcoming nuptials of the Littrell-Wallace ceremony.  Her mind sometimes wondered if it would be any different had she not taken that one offer but she was given the opportunity of a lifetime and she wasn't regretting a moment of it.  Not now anyway.  She lifted her head from the morning's sunlight casting it's brilliance upon her earth tone floral print comforter laying tousled at the end of the bed.  Must've been a hell of a dream for it to be clear down there.  She  slid out of the comfort of her bed and stumbled into the kitchen aimlessly setting up the pot to brew her first shot of wake me up for the day.  She'd be lost without her caffiene.  Her eyes finally focused on the  time staring at her from the microwave oven.  Ten AM.  Jesus! she had an appointment in two hours and there she was meandering through the apartment as though she had all day.  Breaking her thoughts, the phone shrilled.
"Kara Christensen speaking,"she put on her professional tone.
"Good.  I have the right number."
"Is there something I can help you with  sir?" assuming it was a gentelman.
"You've already been of service to me but I believe you can be of help to me now,"Kevin responded.
"May I ask whom is speaking?"
"I'm sorry Miss Christensen, my name is Kevin Richardson."
"Oh my .  I didn't recognize your voice,"but she knew his moan and his groan.
"So good to hear from you.  Thanks to you, I got a juicy little bonus for my production with you."
"Well I'm hoping we can say the same about my cousin."
"Your cousin?"
"The one that's getting married in a couple of weeks here.  The Littrell-Wallace wedding?"
She knew.  She was just waiting for him to say it."I do believe I know of that one.  What did you have in mind for him?"
"I thought I'd leave that up to you. And,"he added,"I'll double the bonus Jeff gave you for me if I get a good report."
"Not one dissatisfied customer yet."
"I can say I was one of them."
"How's he with the bachelor party idea?"
"He's not real pleased with it but he's a good sport."
"Just the kind I like."
"You are gonna be the best thing for him then."
"So  listen,  I'll call you with my details and you just let me know when and where to show up."
"You are an angel."
"So I've been told.  It's been a pleasure Kevin.  Good bye,"she hung up the phone.  Somehow the coffee didn't seem to matter anymore as she floated into the shower and hummed softly to herself.  Two down, three to go.  She often wondered what had happened to the man she abruptly met in the hallway at the first of the parties.   She couldn't shake the thought that he was the one; the one she should be with instead of hiding behind this mask of financial security she chose to procure.
