| She couldn't believe it had been two months since the accident. She had literally handed over her business to Lynette to be by his side. It didn't suffer but in fact flourished in her absence. She thought of selling the business to Lynette but what would she do then? Howie was recovering and at the rate he was going, they would be back out on the road in no time. She spent endless days with Kristy while the boys were in the studio and any free time he had she spent with her beloved Howie. She didn't understand how she could love him so much and that one little touch from Kevin in the hospital cafeteria two months ago sent her body into overdrive? He's a married man she kept reminding herself as she lay snuggled close to Howie that morning. His fingers stroked through the softness of her curls as the early morning's light sifted through the sliding glass door leading out onto the balcony of his room. She looked up into the softness of his gaze and smiled."You know, I'll never get tired of this." "Me neither,"he drew her closer to meet the fire of his early morning kiss. "Now that's something I'm definitely never gonna get tired of,"she breathlessly responded."Don't you have to be going soon?" "Yes I do. I could just called in sick,"he teased. "I don't think that'd fly,"she returned and slid from the bed."Besides, I've got a full day ahead of me as it is." "I can see it now. You and Kristy shopping to your heart's content, having lunch and then returning to the humble abode of choice and cooking dinner." "You have a better plan?" "I do but it involves us being alone." "Get your lazy ass out of bed and get to work boy,"she playfully ordered. "I'm still a cripple remember?" "You have been getting in and out of this bed for the past month just fine." "But I haven't been able to make use of it yet." "When the doctor says it's okay buddy. Not until then. Now get up and get ready to go." "Yes mom,"he pouted. "That won't work today." | "Hey Kris?"she inquired as they silently sat intaking their served meals. "Yeah?"she set her fork down and dabbed the corner of her mouth with the cloth napkin. "Would I be weird if I were thinking of other men with Howie incapable of performing right now?" "What brought that on?" "Just after he came to that morning in the hospital, Kevin and I shared a cup of coffee. Brian came to get us and we toyed with him a little bit but it was..... I don't know. It's weird that I'm even thinking about it." "What'd exactly did he do to you?" "Just kissed the palm of my hand. I keep reminding myself he's a married man." "Keep reminding yourself of that dear. Kristin is a good woman and I know Kevin's been known to stray a little but he never followed completely through." "And you think he would?"knowing full well the sexual capabilities of this man and the way he took her hand that morning. God, it would be so easy but he is married. How could she be thinking these thoughts and be in love with a heart as good and beautiful as Howie's? "Given the opportunity, I'd say yes." "Then I'm not crazy." "No you're not but please be careful Kara,"she said switching the subject."So tell me how the business is running without you girl?" "I think she has a better eye for this than I do." "I don't know. You did three celebrity weddings with no complaints." "But my heart's not in it anymore." "I know what you mean on that one." "Do you ever get used to this?" "Used to what?" "This lifestyle. I mean it's not bad or anything but when he goes on tour and all that jazz?" "We're lucky they're recording here this time but no it's not easy. Are you having second thoughts about Howie?" "Not about him personally. Just about the way I'll be living if this goes any further." "You think he's gonna propose?" "I don't know. I mean we've talked about it but that's about it." |
| "So does she know yet?"AJ inquired as they all hovered around him looking at the ring he'd purchase for Kara. How was he supposed to talk Howie out of this one when he was so dead set against it? Sure he'd made his peace with Kara but that was just for show. Maybe it was jealousy that kept him from thinking his friend should be happier than he was.
