| He stood on her doorstep a good five minutes contemplating why he had to do this. It was breaking his heart just to think about it. In the two and a half weeks they had come to know each other, it wrenched his heart to let her go. He had to. It was for her own safety. He pressed the lighted key and awaited her arrival. Simone rushed to the door when she heard the bell ring. He stood planted on the doormat. This was not good. He would usually lift her up off the floor as though it had been an eternity since he had last seen her."Would you like to come in?" "I don't think I should." "What's going on Kevin?"she inquired as she reached for his hand. He retracted from her attempt. "Oh I get it. He got to you." "No Simone. I just think for my safety and yours that we shouldn't see each other anymore." "You don't mean that,"her voice quivered slightly. "I can't do this anymore. He's gonna hurt one of us and I'm afraid it's gonna be you if he doesn't get his way." "Please don't do this Kevin,"she begged. "I'm sorry Simone,"He said turning away from the door. "Kevin Scott Richardson,"she bellowed catching his ear. He turned to find her shortly behind. She caught up to him."I love you and I'm not gonna let that son of a bitch take away the one thing in this world that makes me happy. If you can look me in the eye and tell me you don't love me anymore, I'll let you go now." It took all the strength in the world he had but he met her gaze and said,"I don't love you Simone." "You lying fucking bastard! Get off my property now!"she demanded as the tears flowed generously down her face. |
| When he saw those tears he knew he had made the grandest mistake in his life. He wanted to rectify his actions and knew he would be rejected but he had to try. His hand grazed her shoulder as she quickly shrugged it off. "Don't touch me!"she cried. "I don't want to do this." "You should have thought of that before. Get away from me and don't ever come near me again." "You don't mean that." "Just go away!" "Simone please,"he begged; his actions echoing hers. "Go!"she said and aimlessly rushed back into the house. Her arm curled around her stomach as she sank to the floor. I hope your happy! She aimed her blurred gaze toward the ceiling speaking to God. How could you? How could you take him away from me? How? I wanna know. Dammit! he cursed as he hit the roof of his vehicle; tears still flowing down his face. I love her. I love her and I let her go because of him. Why did you let me do this? He looked up toward the heavens in an attempt to find some reasoning for his actions."I love her. Please God don't take her away from me,"he spoke into the night air. "You did the right thing,"the voice came from behind. He turned to find the apparition there once again."You. You are the cause for all of this." "I am not what you think I am kind sir." "You aren't a monster sent to destroy my life?" "I am quite but the contrary. The fates will bring you back to her. You must trust me for I brought you together once; I shall be able to procure your love once again." "Why did I leave her?" "Because you love her like there is no tomorrow and she would know of that love if her life were to be revoked tomorrow." "Don't say that." "Her life will not be taken I assure you but you must trust in your decision for it was the proper choice." "I don't think it was. I love her." "And that is why you chose your path. Her heart will forgive of yours in time because she believes in your love and of that she will not let go freely. Cling to her love for it is what bonds you to her. I must go. Do not let go,"she whispered onto the night air. " I love you Simone. Please believe that,"he said looking toward the house wishing to God that he could have done something differently to save their love. |
