The Constitution

We the people... A phrase all Americans know. A document written by the Founding Fathers in 1789. Replacing the Articles of Confederation, giving the people a new government and a new way of life.

The Constitution gives the people their amendments and their rights as Americans. It also explains how the government should work and run. Breaking up congress into 2 chambers to keep the President from having full power and to keep Congress in check, too. This is known as the process, Checks and Balances.

The consitution has 27 amendments. The 27 being the most recent. The Amendments where added by the people of the U.S. to insure and meet the needs of the citizens from the vauge clauses in the Constitution.

The Constitution is written in multiple sections and articles describing how the Four Fathers wanted the government to work. There are 7 Articles the goes from the Presidency to the Congress and specific human rights, which are moe explain in the Amendments.

If we did not have this document we would still be under a Confederate government. This document explains the branches of government, introducing a bicameral system, checking the Presdidency and Congress through Checks and Balances, etc.
