2004 Sixth Grade Drug Awareness Survey

Survey:  anonymous, voluntary

Sample:  103 six grade volunteers from all three middle schools

Survey Highlights:      

Over half of our 6th grade sample could not name the three most commonly used drugs by teens.  Tobacco (nicotine) was routinely absent from incorrect answers.  50% of the sample did not know that a 12 ounce can of beer, 12 ounce wine cooler and 1.5 ounce cocktail had the same amount of alcohol.  40% of the sample did not know that alcohol is the most commonly used drug in the U.S.
