| Another Semester, Another Thank-You List... | ||||||
| Well folks, another semester is almost over and it has gone by at breakneck speed, like usual. It seems like just yesterday the summer ended, marking the start of the new semester, but amazingly, winter is already here! That being said, there are quite a few people on this semester's thank-you list that need to be recognized, so let's get started. | ||||||
| First off, I want to thank some individual people here at the Daily 49er that have worked hard all semester, putting in what seemed like endless hours and making sure everything got done. Rachelle Youngman, our beautiful and talented editor-in-chief, was here in sickness and health doing her job like no one could have. Even though we disagreed about things such as the grocery store strike (I was against it) and the printing of the name of Kobe Bryant's accuser (I was for it), I still respect your opinion (despite the fact that I was right). You are the ideal editor-in-chief that all newspapers should have, and it was a pleasure working with you this semester. | ||||||
| Next up, a big thank-you goes out to Monica Pardee, my editor. You are super-liberal and your opinions are usually 180-degrees opposite of mine, but some way we got along and had a great time working together. We had some great discussions in the newsroom, and after each one I think we both left having learnt something about the other. Thanks again Monica, it was a pleasure! | ||||||
| The rest of the staff at the Daily 49er also deserves praise: my favorite Libertarian, Karl Peterson; Miguel Lopez, a.k.a. Mr. Morrissey; "little" Tina Page (I know I annoyed you a lot during the semester but come on, admit you loved it); Jamie Ouye (I didn't see too much of you this semester, but we had some good times at Wasabi); "sweet, sweet, sweet" Sonya Smith (I had a great time hanging out with you on Thursday nights around the town); Jack Schneider (I know, I know, I should go back to broadcast, right?); Monica Clark (I annoyed you so much this semester, but I swear I didn't mean to!); Jeff Overley and Daniel Frias, two great guys who don't get enough praise for all their work; all the opinion columnists (we don't usually agree about things but we all share one common interest: getting people to critically think about issues, and that means something); Beverly Munson, the brains behind the advertising office; and last but not least, Chris Burnett, Genelle Belmas, and William Mulligan, three amazing professors that I could always turn to for sound advice and a great discussion. | ||||||
| Thank you President Maxson, all your comments to me were absolutely heartfelt and I appreciate your support. You make this the best university to attend, and everyone here feels your devotion to this fantastic school. | ||||||
| Next I would like to thank the staff at 97.1 FM KLSX, who make real work and my job as fun as possible. Radio is all I've ever really wanted to do and I must give my humblest thanks to the management at KLSX for giving me a chance to do what I love. A very special thank-you must be given to Conway & Steckler; when I work on your show it is always full of laughs and is the best three hours of my day. Tim Conway, Jr., deserves extra praise, as he is essentially the reason I am at KLSX, and for that, I am indebted to him more than words can describe. | ||||||
| Thanks also go out to some of my dearest buddies: Scott Baldwin (your humor and wit is almost as bizarre as you are), Eric Higley (who is forever busy pimping all the ladies), Mitch Glick (your musical taste is second to none), and Daniel Merrick (eating sushi with you is an experience always savored by all). | ||||||
| Finally, thanks to everyone who reads the Daily 49er, especially the people that love to refute what I say and write letters-to-the-editor expressing their discomfort over my weekly ranting. I still have yet to read a letter that actually proves me wrong, but I appreciate all the attempts. | ||||||
| Until next semester, I advise everyone to relish these rapidly approaching tranquil times where your views will go unchallenged and unchecked, and I assure you there will be many more chances to write rebuttals to me next semester when I make my triumphant return to the Daily 49er once again. This concludes our broadcast day. | ||||||
