April 8. We rode the shinkansen to Hiroshima and spent two nights at a ryokan - a Japanese-style inn. The ride on the shinkansen was so smoo-oo-ooth, unlike the bouncy, jerky regular trains. The interior of the train looks and feels like an airplane, and so does the ride. Smooth and FAST! We visited the atom bomb memorial park, and walked around our neighborhood a little. April 9. We rode the train to Miyajima-guchi and took the JR Ferry to Miyajima island. We strolled around, saw the temples and shrines, and the cherry blossoms. And we ate local-style okonomiyaki, which is different from the Osaka-style. Please click the photo to see more of Miyajima. |
