By-Laws

 

I.    Have Fun!

    1.    No Excessive Violence.

 

II.    Respect Officers

    1.    Bowing is expected at formal meetings, unless persona says otherwise.

    2.    Courteousness is expected at regular meetings and events.

    3.    If all else fails, revert back to by-law I.

 

III.    Volunteer Work

    1.    Members are required to volunteer four times a year in the name of the house.

    2.    Volunteer work includes doing something for your Kingdom, Shire, or the Household.

    3.    Members are required to document volunteer activities done in the name of the house and submit to Minister of Bards.

    4.    If all else fails, revert back to by-law I.

 

IV.    Meetings

    1.    To hold a regular meeting there must be at least two officers and four members present.

    2.    To hold a formal meeting all officers and at least four members must be present.

    3.    There will be at least two formal meeting a year.

            a.    Garb will be worn at formal meetings. Preferable formal garb.

            b.    Special ceremonies will be conducted at formal meetings only.  (Such at voting pending members in.)

            c.    There will be at least three months between formal meetings to account for normal business.

    4.    Regular business meetings will be hold once a month.

            a.    Mundane clothing may be worn at regular meetings.

    5.    Discussions/Debates can last no more that 15 minutes.

    6.    If all else fails, revert back to by-law I.

 

V.    Changing By-Laws

    1.    By-laws may only be changed if all officers and at least four members are present, unless there are special circumstances.

            a.    Officer position open.

            b.    Not enough members.

    2.    A majority vote is required by officers and members present to change a by-law.

    3.    If all else fails, revert back to by-law I.

 

VI.    Challenging a By-Law

    1.    Any by-law can by challenged at an event only.

            a.    Trial by fighting.

                    i.    Heaving Weapons Fighting

                    ii.    Rapier Combat

                    iii.    Archery

                    iv.    Throwing Weapons

                    v.    Chess/Cards

            b.    Majority vote by members at event.

            c.    Drinking contest.

            d.    Debate.

            e.    Dancing.

            f.    Etc.

    2.    Both challengers can agree on a different trial not listed.

    3.    Appropriate officer must witness challenge.

    4.    Challengers can choose a champion.

    5.    Challenge only applies at that event.

    6.If all else fails, revert back to by-law I.

 

VII.    Sponsoring New Members

    1.    New members are required to have two full members as sponsors, unless there are special circumstances.

            a.    Not enough members

            b.    Not enough members at the event at that time.

    2.    New members must wear badges upside down until becoming a full member.

    3.    New members must help their sponsors.

            a.    Sponsors must document new members activities done in household name.

    4.    Sponsors are responsible for new member's actions and retain right to pull badge.

            a.    Both sponsors must agree in order to pull badge.

    5.    Full member may only sponsor three new members at a time.

    6.    A majority vote at any formal meeting to change the status of a new member to a full member is required.

    7.    If all else fails, revert back to by-law I.

 

VIII.    Donations

    1.    Significant donations are asked of members.

    2.    If all else fails, revert back to by-law I.

 

IX.    Devise

    1.    Badge represents household.

    2.    As long as a member is wearing a badge, that member is a representative of the household.

    3.    If all else fails, revert back to by-law I.

 

X.    Officers

    1.    Minister of Awards

            a.    Head of household

            b.    Presentation of awards

            c.    Diplomat at events

            d.    Hires mercenaries

            e.    Presents favors

            f.    In charge of ceremonies

    2.    Minister of Fighting

            a.    In charge of fighters

            b.    Must retain a full SCA membership at all times

            c.    Organizes and settles disputes

                    i.    Trial by combat

            d.    Responsible for security at formal meetings and ceremonies

    3.    Minister of Fun

            a.    Dancing

            b.    Site orcanization

            c.    Feasts

            d.    Entertainment

    4.    Minister of Bards

            a.    Secretary

            b.    Documentation

            c.    Organizing site clean up

    5.    Minister of Money

            a.    Treasurer

            b.    In charge of money

            c.    In charge of loaner garb

            d.    Documentation of loaner garb

            e.    Makes sure nothing walks away

XI.    Election

    1.    Elections will be held once a year with a turnover of office after six months.

    2.    Nominations must be turned in two months prior to election.

    3.    Proxy votes must be in one month prior to election.

            a.    Proxy votes will not be opened prior to tallying.

    4.    Nominees have the right to turn down a nomination.

    5.    If all else fails, revert back to by-law I.

 

XII.    Guests

    1.    No more than three guests per member.

    2.    Minister of Fun may make exception to the number of guests.

    3.    Guests should be courteous.

    4.    Members are responsible for guests.

    5.    At least two members and an officer must agree in order to ask a guest to leave.

    6.    Only full members may invite guests.

    7.    If a guest is asked to leave, they must return their pass.

    8.    If all else fails, revert back to by-law I.
