Chapter One: The Promise
So there I am, living the sweet life on UI (that’s Unemployment Insurance). Making more money filling out two forms online every week than I did while actually working.
But my UI benefits are soon to dry up, so I must peel my ass from the couch, leave my lair, and head out into the horrible and sunny world. After only applying at three stores, I get an interview at a clothing store. All went well and I got a second interview.
In this interview, the manager told me that they were looking to eventually work me up to a part-time key holder, which means I would have access to the store and be kind of like a supervisor.
So I accepted the job solely on the fact that the manager promised me, basically, a promotion and pay-raise once I was done the provincially mandatory three month probation period. (This probation period means they can fire me at anytime for no reason what-so-ever)
