Lebanon Enterprise - 2/21/1919 DIES NEAR RILEY James L. McCarty, who was well known in the section where he lived, died last Saturday at his home near Riley as a result of a stroke of paralysis suffered a few days before. He was 50 years old; a son of the late Ben McCarty and had spent his life in the neighborhood where he died. Funeral services were held at Haysville Church Sunday afternoon and burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. McCarty's wife died a few years ago. He is survived by six children, five sons and one daughter, and also by several brothers.
Kentucky Death Certificate #11622, 1913 gives his full name as James Leonard McCarty, male, white, widowed, born June 8, 1868, was 50 years, 8 months, and 7 days old, he was a farmer and born in Marion County Kentucky. His parents were Benjamin McCarty, who was born in Marion County, Kentucky and his mother was Sarah Purdom, born Marion County, Kentucky. He died on February 15, 1919 at 7 pm from paraplegia and mitral regurgitation. He had been ill for 2 days preceeding his death. He was buried at Haysville Cemetery on February 15, 1919. |
