Here is the interview we did with Mandy:
I'm 19. From California originally. I'm a singer/songwriter.
How would you describe your music?
My vocals are very R&B, but I like to put a lot of rock influence into my music. It's still pop music...but the lyrics are real, and come straight from what I'm feeling or going through. I don't limit myself to what I should or should not say in my music.
Is it important for you to write your own songs?
Of course. I can't sing something someone else wrote, my music is about me and about what I want to say...and I want it to reflect me and my opinions, not someone else's. I'm always up for co-writing, I love writing with other people...I just need to have a creative hand in my music, otherwise I don't feel right about it.
What�s your favorite song that you sing?
Falling Anyway
Where do you get your inspirations for your songs?
From my personal life...the way I feel, what I'm going through, or what I have gone through.
You�re song �Never Be Like Him� is on Brooke Hogan's debut album, how did that come about? Is there any other artists that you have wrote a song for?
I actually have three other songs on her album as well...I'm not really sure how it all came about. My producer Aaron was hired to work on her album, and they needed more songs, so he submitted a CD of a bunch of songs he wrote with me, and they liked a lot of the material...and she sings them really well, and they just happened to fit her perfectly.
You were in the group �Poetry in Motion�, would you ever join a group again?
Nope.
What makes you different form all the other singers out there?
I'm me, and they are them. I don't claim I am better than anyone else out there, I respect everyone who's working hard and trying to accomplish something. I'm not worried about what's going to set me apart, I just do what works for me, so it all works itself out in the end.
What is your main music goal?
To get a deal, and to make a great album, and to write for other artists. I just want to establish myself.
What are you doing to accomplish that goal?
Working my butt off. I get distracted from it sometimes, because for years, that was all I did was work at it and work at it. Right now, I'm trying to build on my life personally and musically. So, sometimes it's hard to balance the two.
Do you have any embarrassing moments on stage?
I've forgotten the words before...and there have been times where I've gone off key, and that sucks.
What should we expect from you in the future?
Who knows what the future holds for me. Everything is so up in the air, especially right now.
Has there been anything in your career that you regret?
I don't regret anything, I've learned from every experience, good and bad.
Have you made any sacrifice to focus on your music career?
When I was 13-17 I totally pushed my social life out of the way, and I think that kind of bit me in the ass, because I missed out on a lot of things. But at the same time, I got a lot done musically.
Do you support any charities?
I have a charity show coming up on Monday for Toys for Tots, and I've done some charity shows in the past, like the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation, etc. Those are my favorite shows to play.
Would you be interested in donating any merchandise for a contest and/or a auction where the proceeds will go to a charity of your choice?
I would love to, but I don't have any merch available at the moment.
