Lauren D'Aria may be young, but she has done one thing that many other aspiring singers can't say they have done. She performed at the premiere of Hilary Duff's movie "Raise Your Voice." Lauren also write her own lyrics that are from her own life experiences.
We got a chance to interview Lauren, between jobs, writing and in the studio. Here is the interview:
Hey Lauren. This is Adrienne from Hott Stuff Online. Could you please tell us a little about yourself?
Hey! My name is Lauren D'Aria, Im a pop/R&B singer...I'm also a songwriter...and I live in Maryland!

How would you describe your music?
My music is pop/R&B and Im trying to put some rock into it too.. I love all kinds of music, so i really want to put all kinds of music together for my own style, I cant chose just one!

Is there a message you are trying to get across in your music?
There's always a message in music, I think...Im a strong believer of being who you are and being proud of who you are, and believing in yourself, standing up for yourself, following your heart, the list goes on...there's so much...I believe there is always a message to send out to people, and singing and music is the best way to get your message out there.

Do you write your own songs? If not do you have a say in what you sing? If you write your own songs where do you get your inspirations?

I write most of my songs. I love writing...the only song of mine so far that i haven't written is "how does it feel".... i get my inspiration from anything i go through in life.

If you werent singing, what would you be doing?
If I wasn't singing, hmm, I have always been into fashion design, I make my own clothes a lot. Theres so many things I want to get into, I like graphic designing-even though Im not good at it yet. I would still want to get into something dealing with music... Im not sure exactly what it would be, but I would have to still have music in my life, but you can do anything you want, just put your mind and heart into it!

What is your favorite song that you sing?
My favorite song of mine to sing, hmmm...I like singing them all, haha I dont know if I could pick just one!

Do you have one song that means that most to you?
Hmmm... they all really mean a lot to me, because I wrote them all from experience.

Do you have any embarrassing moments on stage so far in your career?

Ah yes, Once I totally forgot some of the words to a song I was singing, and I just started like smiling n dancing. And one time, I was just getting over a really bad cold, so my voice wasnt totally there, and I went to hit a note, and i cracked, but not many people really noticed...so it was all good.

When and how did you get start singing professionally?
Ive been singing all my life, before I could talk I was singing. but professionally, since I was about 13.. I just started singing at local karaoke places and then school activities and then I eventually started doing my own shows

What do you hope to achieve with your music career?

I want to sing and send my message out to people through singing and music, and I want people to enjoy it and listen to it for the voice and the lyrics... I want to touch people through my music... even if I only touch one person, thats okay, because knowing you put an impact on just one persons life is so amazing... but of course, I want to touch more than just one person.

What are you doing to achieve this goal?

I'm singing everywhere I can, showing my music to anyone who will listen, and even if they dont want to listen, Ill do my best to make them listen. I'm currently recording a CD, so when thats finished, we'll do our best to promote it and get it all out there for everyone to hear!

You sang at the Hilary Duff premiere for Raise Your Voice. What did you sing and how did that come about?

Wow, that was so much fun!! I sang the song "Lady Marmalade", I didn't sing one of my own songs, but thats okay, I had so much fun singing that song! that song has always been one of my signature songs, so it was fun to sing it again! I got to sing at the premier basically because I won a contest, either way, it was so much fun, such an amazing experience!!

What advice would you give to other aspiring artists?
Sing EVERYWHERE and ANYWHERE you can, and take constructive criticism, because you're going to get it not matter how good you are, usually the people who are saying things are right, so take what they say and turn it around, prove to people that you can do anything...follow your heart, trust your instincts.. be careful. Sing your heart out anywhere you sing, because you never know who is watching...don't just sing a song, perform it and believe it.. being an artist isnt just singing, its singing, believing, performing, and making others believe what you're singing... a good voice is a great thing to have, but sometimes it doesnt mean much if you're not believable.. one thing I learned that was probably the most important to learn was to make outsiders believe that you're feeling what you're singing.... haha okay Im done writing my book but really, you can do ANYTHING you put your heart and mind into

Where can your fans find out more about you?
My website is
www.laurendaria.com and I have a link to my street team on there, and also you can check out www.myspace.com/laurendaria that's another site that I have to get my music out there
