Jayson always loved music since he was young. Jayson always wanted to be around music so he worked many different internships in music. Jay was a intern at The F.I.R.M (Family of Indepent Record and Merchants). He also worked at A Touch of Jazz which is Dj Jazzy Jeff production company. He said " I look at the A.T.O.J crew as family, they all show me love".
Jay started making mixtapes in 1997. After he seen the movie "Juice" he loved that the main character in the movie was a DJ. But was hurt when he found out that it really wasn't Omar Empps DJing in the movie. Jay has released alot of mixtapes,but his earlier ones where under different names.Such as Jay.Money, Dj Butta, and Jay Love thats b4 he found out it was already a J love in New York.
