(comic sans ms - 14pt double spaced format) Aaron Merritt Mrs. Campbell English 3 12 December, 2004 Importance of Acceptance It's very important that we accept everyone for who they are. By accepting them, we're making them feel more comfortable and more at home. If they're not comfortable, then they aren't going to want to stick around for very long. Some may become very depressed, suicidal, or may develope hateful feelings towards others. In some cases, they may develope such strong, hateful feelings towards to some, they could end up feeling they have no other choice than taking others out along with themselves. I have many friends who feel rejected by others and feel as if there's no place in this world for them. I too, sometimes feel this way but realize how stupid it is to feel that way. When people feel like this, it's often hard to find a way to calm them down to make them feel wanted and loved. Also, it can very well knock a person mentally off-balance when it's all said and done. This person could possibly have long lasting, or even permanent, problems. The reason it's so critically important to accept others the way they are is so that they don't feel as if they need to pretend to be, or change into, someone that they're not. It would be a very bad feeling to know that you're not good enough for those that you care about or are friends with. If a person feels as if they're not good enough for those around them, more than likely, they'll slip into depression. Also, if someone feels rejected and unwated their whole life, they may end up passing that on to their children as that's the way that they learned to grow up. So not only are the people that aren't accepting them for themselves, but they're also hurting future generations on down the line. That person may also be hurt in relationships by doubting theirselves to the point they wont try to get into realtionships with others or damage the ones they're in. When the person is in depression, they may do badly in school/work which could get them bad grades or fired from a job.
