Hot Firies strut their stuff in Ravenshoe
They
won’t go the Full Monty, but a group of fire fighters are willing, able and
about to strut their stuff on Ravenshoe’s centre stage,
and once again it’s going to a good cause.
The
selfless efforts of these fiery characters has been publicly recognised and
awarded by Federal Members, foundations and charities nation wide for their
community and charity work.
Federal
Member Warren Entsch has said of this band of Robin Hoods:
“They
work tirelessly to aid charity groups raising money for very worthy causes, and
their efforts certainly deserve the community’s support and gratitude, the Hot
Firies are a great inspiration for other
volunteers throughout the region,”
“I also encourage other charities and individuals to
take on the team spirit these fire fighters have made their mission.”
The
Hot Firies are a self-funding non profit group of professional fire fighters
who give up their spare time to raise money for charities particularly throughout
To
date they have helped raise in excess of $245,000 for organisations and events
including the Leukaemia Foundation, Cancer Foundation, a Variety Bash entrant,
the RSL Girl in a Million, The Make a Wish foundation, The basket Brigade, The
Heart foundation and several Rotary clubs. They also make the effort to support
various individuals who have been dealt a hard deal.
The
Hot Firies have made direct donations to Cairns Base hospital, Yaps, the family
of a Leukaemia patient, The Street Kids project and a young Tableland charity
entrant who had her nomination money stolen. These
foundations and individuals have been supported from the tablelands right down
to Mackay.
The Hot Firies have been invited to Ravenshoe to help raise monies for the __________. Giving
the people of Ravenshoe an opportunity to see what
the fuss is about. The boys have found a truly unique, different and fun way to
raise money.
