SUMMARY: After a hot, dry couple of months, the remnants of Ernesto brought a welcome pattern change that lasted through much of September. Temperatures and precipitation were both near normal. About 2/3 of the month's rain fell from Ernesto, so without it would have been another dry month, despite frequent light rain events. The mean max of 70.9 F was 8.7 degrees cooler than last year's 79.6 F (warmest September mean max was 81.2 F in 1998). However, due to ample cloud cover, the below normal daily max's were nearly offset by above normal nightly mins.
