Skies broke to partly cloudy. Became very windy with NW winds 20-30 mph gusting at times up to 50 mph. Numerous trees were blown down onto houses and across roads and power outages were reported. Wind was clocked at 60 mph at Beall Elementary School in Frostburg. 4: A chilly low of 25 F then clear with light west breezes developing. 6: Light rain began around 5:30pm and continued on and off through the day .18" fell. Low clouds and fog and calm winds. 7: More rain overnight mostly light another .25" fell. Again foggy with calm winds. 8: Sunny AM, partly cloudy PM. Milder high 54 F. 9: Light rain began at noon and continued for the remainder of the day .47" fell. 10: Cloudy with fog and drizzle and periods of rain mostly light .16" fell. 13: Gusty NW winds to 30 mph with snow flurries but no accumulation. 14: Cold and blustery with gusty NW winds and occasional snow showers. Only a dusting (0.2"). 19: Mostly cloudy with gusty NW winds to 40 mph and flurries after dark with no significant accumulation. Temperatures dropped through the day to 13 F by midnight. 20: Cold low 7 F. Mostly sunny but cold & blustery with W winds gusting to 30 mph. High only 16 F today. 21: Cold AM low 17 F. Mostly sunny, much milder temperatures and calmer winds. 22: Mild high 50 F with sunshine and calm winds. 23: Light AM drizzle. Cold front with heavy downpours and gusty winds (30+ mph) moved in about 10am. Temperatures dropped during the afternoon with light PM snow showers. 0.33" precip, trace of snow. 24: Blustery and cold with mostly cloudy skies after overnight flurries. 25: Cold low 14 F. Mostly sunny but cold. 26: Mostly cloudy with light N winds. Very light PM snow. Very little accumulation. 27: Clearing overnight. Mostly sunny but blustery and cold with N winds gusting to 30 mph. 28: Cloudy becoming partly sunny after 10am. Remained cold. 29: Much milder high 43 F with gusty W winds. 30: Mostly cloudy, mild. 31: Cloudy, became partly sunny and very mild high 62 F. Some light drizzle around 2pm, trace. SUMMARY: December was mild, windy and dry with a lack of snowfall. A measly 0.3" snow fell, making it the least snowy December on record. The first 10 days were wet, but the remainder of the month was very dry with measurable precipitation only falling one of the final 21 days. Temperatures were generally mild with a few Arctic spells. It was the 4th consecutive month of above-normal temps.
