The season of the rains arrives
As if to wash away all of the thoughts
That are so encompassing of the mind....
All thoughts save one.
Despite unburdening the daily worries,
That single sense of solitude remains....
Even as the water falls against a parched earth,
A strange thirst takes over.
A thirst such that it cannot be quenched
By any waters of this world.
One by one the the raindrops
fall....
But I find solace in the gentle rhythms of nature.
In all of the discord there is a profound order,
And I realize in that moment
That even if there is no one here with me,
I am not alone.
As the thunder rolls across sleeping lands,
And the angry skies flash light...
I know that,
In all of the turmoil,
I know that there is another soul
That is here with me in spirit.
Thinking of me....
Sharing in my pain and happiness....
Always willing to lend a hand to a fallen soul
And brush away the stream of tears.
This thought gives me comfort,
And I escape into a world of my own.
With a newfound strength
I roam the roads of my heart
And memories and faces come forth....
And I am able to smile again
As I remember all those moments
That I hold so dear and close.
I come across gypsies
Who wish to sell me innocent dreams....
And with a laugh,
I tell them their dreams are too expensive for me....
I will pursue my own dreams.
The roads take me to the rivers,
The rivers which carve new valleys in my world –
Curving and winding,
They forge new paths to travel upon.
With my new strength,
I keep walking and find
That I am able to walk over the
water.
Those mistakes in the past have no bearing,
And the pain and hurt have long been washed away.
Even in the darkness,
I feel a glow emanating from my face,
And the rain drops seem to light
Tiny little flames in the still waters.
With every step,
Ripples rush away from me..
As if to remind me of the infinite capacity
Of this world that lays inside of me....
I continue to walk along these foreign waters,
And the rains begin to subside
As a fog envelops the surroundings.
I hear soft whispers from known voices
That call
out to me from the shores....
The aroma of an invigorated earth float to me
And I sense the air of renewal...
Of new beginnings.
In an attempt to capture this life,
I bend down and cup my hands.
I bring the water to my thirsty lips,
But it falls through the cracks
And I am once again left yearning....
Then,
As I reach forth again,
I see a shadow cross my path.
I look up and see someone before me.
Without a single word,
I know that this is the very soul
For whom I was waiting.
Together we take the water in our hands -
And none escapes this time.
I drink this promise of hope and life,
And as a ray of light pierces the dense clouds,
The fog begins to lift.
Hand in hand we walk forth....
For I will no longer travel this path alone.
