JAMES BULLARD DIED IN APRIL 1832. HE LEFT A FARM ON WHICH HIS WIDOW RESIDED WITH HIS CHILDREN.WIDOW:
SARAH BULLARD .. THE WIDOW.. SHE APPLIED FOR A PENSION 29 FEB 1840. THE PENSION WAS ALLOWED TO HER.SERVICE:
THE WIDOW WAS SO OLD, SHE STATED, THAT SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO REMEMBER HIS SERVICE.. SHE STATED HOWEVER THAT SHE HAD IN HER POSSESSION:
1ST. A FURLOUGH SIGNED BY COL. THOMAS BROWN
2ND. A DISCHARGED SIGNED BY CAPT. TURPIN MCRAE. ALSO SHE HAS HEARD HER HUSBAND STATE THAT HE SERVED IN NORTH AND SOUTH CAROLINA AND GEORGIA.AFFIDAVITS BY : JAMES D. BRIDGES ; STEPHEN PAUL AND ABRAHAM PAUL.

SAMPSON B. THOMPSON AGE 73 BUT WILL BE AGED 74 ON 9 JULY NEXT IN A STATEMENT MADE 17 JAN 1843 STATES HE WAS PRESENT WHEN JAMES BULLARD WAS MARRIED TO SARAH BULLARD.. HE DID NOT LIST THE DATE.
JOHN G. MCLEAN STATES HE IS AGED 87 AND WAS PRESENT AT THE WEDDING OF JAMES BULLARD TO SARAH BULLARD IN BLADEN COUNTY,N.C. .. HE SAYS HE REMEMBERS IT WELL FOR THE SAME DAY THERE WAS A DOUBLE WEDDING WHEN JOHN BULLARD WAS ALSO MARRIED AND THAT SAME JOHN BULLARD WAS A BROTHER TO JAMES BULLARD AND ALL LIVED AS NEIGHBORS IN BLADEN COUNTY,N.C. AND STILL LIVE IN THE SAME NEIGHBORHOOD FOR ROBESON COUNTY WAS CUT OFF FROM BLADEN COUNTY AND WHILE THE COUNTY WAS MOVED THEIR FARMS WERE AT THE SAME SPOT BUT IN A NEW COUNTY.ENGAGEMENT:
SLIPPERY BRIDGE WAS THE ONLY SKIIRMISH THAT SARAH BULLARD STATES SHE REMEMBERS HER HUSBAND SPEAKING ABOUT THAT HE FOUGHT IN.SARAH BULLARD THE WIDOW OF JAMES BULLARD DIED 24 JUNE 1843. [THE PHOTOSTAT COPY IS NOT CLEAR AND SHE MAY HAVE DIED 24 JUNE 1853.]

THIS PAYMENT WAS MADE IN 1853 ... DEATH OF THE WIDOW SARAH BULLARD .. PENSION STATES SHE WAS AGED BETWEEN 80 AND 90 YEARS OLD.LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JAMES BULLARD
"In the name of God Amen. I James Bullard of the County of Robeson and State of North Carolina, being weak in Body, bu sound disposing Mind and memory, do this day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two make and publish this to be my Last Will and testament in manner and form following.
First I desire my just debts should be paid out of my perishable property.2nd I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Elias Bullard the Lands and Plantations which on I now live containing two hundred and sixty acres more or less- lying in four different tracts- also a bed and furniture.
3rd I give and bequeath unto my Grand Daughter Sarah Pledger two cows, a calf and yearling and two year old heifer- also one bed and furniture. Also a three year old heifer.
4th I give and bequeath unto my Beloved wife Sarah Bullard three cows and yearlings- a gray mare- all of the house hold furniture that has not been given in the above articles - also my kitchen furniture- to be her own during her life and at her death to be disposed of as she pleases.
5th I give and bequeath unto my Son Elias Bullard all my stock of hogs - to be used for the benefit of my family - all my farming utensils of every description.
SOME BULLARD RESEARCHERS REFER TO HIM AS " THE ENGLISH SEA CAPTAIN"
