While all the world a slumber
My silent vigil break
To step forth into morning
And face a brand new day.

The sun breaks forth from
          Midnight's chains,
Bursts out his early songs;
Darkness cowers in slender shadows
While "Hallelujah!" rings.

I watch in quiet, wondrous awe;
My soul, though peaceful, quakes.
The Lord Almighty, gentle, soft
As He cradles earth awake.

Footsteps tread in quiet grace
To save the last night tune
A gentle breeze doth kiss the face
And bid farewell the moon.

Morning Glory
