It's been 31 years since you left us but your memory will forever remain  and we will continue to hold you close to our hearts.

No more songs, no more laughs, no more passion to embrace
All your friends and soul greats that too have passed
Opened their arms and welcomed you at last

Soul just isn’t the same with you no longer here
The lure of the Temptations has since disappeared
We miss your voice and miss your smile
But most of all, we miss your overwhelming style

Imagine the hurt and sorrow quelling now
We have to find a way to move on somehow
You’ve left your gifts of song and dance to carry on

THE GIFT OF PAUL WILLIAMS

A man, a Prime, a Temptation, a legacy.
How could one man be so talented? The Lord and faith.
He had the faith in himself, the faith in his gift, and faith in the Lord Himself.
He was blessed by the Lord with a voice that would reveal the depths of his soul. You could feel the full emotion of every song he ever graced with his sensual voice.

He was also blessed with a skill in dance.
He could create a dance that would look so sexy, yet so classy at the same time. He knew how to accentuate every part of a song with a dance, whether it be a spin, head turn, hand clap, finger snap, kick, or a small but subtle hand movement. The song and dance routine would fit smoothly together like two puzzle pieces.

His dream was to be the greatest singer he could become. Not only did he make his dream come true, but he far surpassed his own dream, because he is one of the greatest entertainers to have graced the eyes and ears of anyone willing to watch and listen.

Even though his life was brought to a short and tragic end, he is still very much alive. He is still alive in the hearts of his family, alive in the hearts of his friends, and alive in the hearts of all his loving fans. Every time I listen to one of his songs, I feel his presence there, singing and dancing so free and happy. Paul Williams a man whose soul was full of song, dance, and love, and whose career has tragically ended way before it's time. Paul Williams, a legacy of song, dance, and inspiration will live for all eternity.

July 2, 1939 - August 17, 1973

THEN

Showstopper, finger-popping, making our hearts bleed
Didn't take no prisoners whenever he took the lead
The greatest baritone that I have ever seen
Tearing up the stage and appearing on the screen
Made me feel the Great Apocalypse was coming
Watching him in action made me want to go running
On top of that, a dancer with near supernatural grace
No matter what he did he was right there in your face

NOW

I never thought I'd live to see the day he was not here
I have endured his absence now for too many a year
His sudden leaving is today an old, hard, media fact
And when he slipped away, a voice said, "Paul, no, Don't Look Back."
We stood behind in sadness with warm hearts that became frozen
And then a voice said in our ears, "He was My first one chosen."
