Once Brittany walked out of the room, she literally walked right into Kristin, causing both of them to nearly fall to the floor. "Hey Kristin, I haven't seen you all day." Brittany regained her balance.
"Yeah, I thought that you guys were going to Blizzard Beach or something."
"Well, we were going to but I got more work cut out for me then I thought, and I think that the guys do too with their dances."
Kristin smiled noting to herself that her headache had vanished. "Oh did you decide what you are wearing tomorrow? Are you going to go by yourself, or are you and JC going?"
Brittany shifted her feet nervously. "Well...actually, I am going to go with Justin because he just asked me, and no, I haven't had time to decide what I am going to wear. I've been too busy trying to find everyone else something to wear. And I think Justine is mad now. Even though she is still pissed at Justin, she just confuses the hell out of me."
Kristin shook her head laughing. "Yeah I know. I don't even remember what happened last night. Did I do something I should regret?" Kristin asked joking.
"I don't know but did you and Joey have fun?" Brittany let a wide smile spread across her face. "I know JC and I were a little shocked when we walked in on that!" Brittany started to walk down the hall.
"Oh god!" Kristin mumbled under her breath wondering what all happened. She took a mental note to ask Joey later.
"Justine.is she gone, Kris?"
"I just saw her walk that way." She pointed down the hallway. "What time is everyone going over to Justin's tomorrow?"
"Who said that I was dressing you? I only get paid for the guys and even they are sometimes questionable at if I still want to dress them." Brittany kidded with her friend.
"Yeah whatever I will be there at 12 because that way I won't be looking for you to help me when the guys are there, and want the star treatment." Kristin smiled knowing how the guys were when they didn't cooperate.
"Yeah, whatever is better for you." Brittany grabbed her things from the wardrobe room as she walked past it. With her arms full, she walked to the front door and after struggling for a minute, she opened it, and walked out to the awaiting van.
After Justine left the studio, she walked around the property a little bit. "What am I doing?" She asked herself. "Why am I mad at Brittany? She is just going with Justin because he needed a date, and why would he ask me? I don't like him. I hate him right now. But the thing is, I don't." She put her hands over her face covering it as she sat down on the swing next to the lake, confused.
As she sat there, she remembered the night that she kissed Justin. "Wasn't that a mistake!" she half laughed at the event. Who would have thought that all of this would have happened? Definitely not her. If it were up to her, she would have the old Justin back. Not the one that broke promises to his best friend, or the one who blamed her for things. She wanted the Justin she fell in love with as a child. The one who was her first crush in elementary school. The one who threatened to beat up a 3rd grader when they were in 2nd grade because he was teasing her. The longer Justine sat there, the more she realized something. Maybe she was stupid for thinking that Justin would maybe want to be with her. The only thing Justin would ever see in her would be the tomboy he grew up with. The one that played in the mud with him, and the one who played one on one in basketball. He would never see her like he saw Britney. She wasn't a girly girl. She had always prided herself for not being one, but for once, she wished she was. She thought that maybe it was time for a change in her life. She didn't want Justin anymore. At least she told herself that. But she wanted to be like someone else. Maybe Brittany, to know something about fashion and style would be nice. She was always fun and up for anything. Then she wanted to be like Kristin. The sensible one. She was definitely a girly girl. Justine smiled at the thought. Kristin in the mud.that would never happen! Brittany- maybe. Ok. Brittany would be a yes. She thought smiling of the time they mud wrestled in Justin's back yard after a big storm. Justin came home in the middle and cheered them on. Kristin sat the whole time telling them how long it was going to take to clean their clothes. Brittany came back with a comment that she didn't care. She later found out that she was in designer jeans. She didn't seem to care. Thinking of it, Britt even had a new pair the next day.
Justine sat for a good hour thinking about the all the times she had with Justin, and how she wouldn't change them for a minute. But she decided that she wouldn't change anything even now. Maybe this whole fight was good. She found out that Justin wasn't as perfect at she made him out to be. He wouldn't be put up on a pedestal anymore. The friendship she cherished so much may not be anymore. But maybe that was a good thing. Now she could look other ways for opportunities.
"Justine?" A voice broke into her thoughts. "Mind if I sit down?"
Justine scooted over quickly making room for him.
"A penny for your thoughts?" JC pulled out a 20 dollar bill.
"That's not a penny Jace!" A giggle came from deep within her.
"Yeah, well it looks like you have a lot on your mind so I think it will take more than a penny." He leaned over and hugged her, being the big brother figure that he always was for her. "You know you are going tomorrow. Brittany said you have to. So I called Tyler and he said that he would be happy to go with you."
"JC." She whined knowing he wasn't going with anyone. "Why can't I go with you?"
"Because maybe you and Ty can hook up you know he is only 19, the same age as you." He nudged her with his shoulder.
"Fine. I'll go with him just because I know you won't let me live it down if I don't."
"Yup, you're right. Now do you want a ride home? I know that Brittany gave up a long time ago looking for you. She said she had things to do and didn't want to play hide and seek." He pulled her up as he dragged her behind him.
"I was out here the whole time."
"Ok well lets go. I think everyone is already gone." JC looked at the sunset as it cast over the lake. "Isn't that a pretty sight? Britt and I used to sit out here all the time. Even when no one was here." He got a tender smile on his face.
"I think somebody still likes her." Justine poked him in the stomach.
"Do not!"
"Do too! And you know it. Why didn't you ask her to the thing?"
"Justine, we all know that she wouldn't go with me. Remember? We broke up. She didn't want a relationship and I did." He stated the facts to her as they walked to his car. He pressed the button on his key chain, unlocking the doors so they were able to climb up into the jeep.
"Yeah, but that was like a year ago. She has settled down since then." JC shot her a look. "Ok, well she really hasn't, but I bet if you told her you still cared for her, she would be all over you in a second."
"You think so?" JC questioned as his hopes started to get higher.
"I see you had her favorite shorts on last night." Justine looked over at him as he pulled onto the road from the long driveway.
"Yeah, she said she wanted me to wear them." He pressed the gas pedal hard sending them flying down the road.
"Oh you definitely have to ask her to dance at the party tomorrow. I can tell already that she wants you." Justine laughed as they headed toward her house.
"So what time can Ty pick you up tomorrow?" JC changed the subject as fast as he could think of a question.
"Um tell him he can come over at 2. Are we going to go over to see you guys at Justin's before we go?" She opened her door as he pulled into her driveway.
"Yeah, everyone is going over there. Ok?" Justine nodded her head and slammed the door shut. "See you tomorrow." She waved to him as she started to walk up to her parents house as he backed out of the drive way.
