Time flies when you are having fun.  What a great spring and summer for gardens!!!  Flowers are blooming friends are gathering by the grill and the Hostas are doing great.

August is upon us and everything is still green.  What a difference from last years dry, moisture deprived, cracking soil.  Hopefully, you are inspecting and nurturing your Hosta -- whether giant, dwarf, common or exotic -- to produce that perfect leaf to enter in our first annual Cut Leaf Show scheduled for August 16th at the Schenectady Library.  Kent and Dave along with volunteer club members are working hard at putting the final touches on the show.  In order for this event to be truly successful and memorable, EACH MEMBERS CONTRIBUTION OF SEVERAL FAVORITE HOSTA LEAVES IS ESSENTIAL.  So, I am personally asking each of you to enter leaves.  The procedure is simple and was published in the April Newsletter.  See you on the 16th.

September 6th at 1:00 PM is our annual picnic. This years picnic will be held at the STORZs --- Directions are in the newsletter.  Bring your own setups, drinks, and a favorite dish to pass/share.  If you missed the plant sale in May, not to worry.  A wide variety  will be offered thanks to Janet and to fellow club members who have been caring for and nurturing plants left over from the May Sale. Returned sitter plants (divided and potted) will also be on hand. During the summer, the Acquisitions Committee  purchased a nice selection of hostas that will also be available.   Dont forget to look through your garden for plants to divide and donate to the sale.  Looking forward to a great day.

A reminder, our October meeting will be at the East Greenbush Library (A change in location).  John OBrien will be our speaker.  There will also several new and exciting items to discuss for the 2004 program year.

If you havent been as active a participant this past year as you would have liked to have been, consider scheduling your club into your planning calendar for 2004 -- make it a point to be a part of this super organization.
