WOW!!! What a great March meeting.  Leo Blanchette provided excellent presentations Perennials With Good Foliage and a surprise second presentation on Propagation. Both were well received and a lively discussion followed.

The Co-Chairs Kent Terpening and Dave Jennings discussed our first annual  Hosta Cut Leaf Show scheduled for August 16, 2003.  They provided an excellent overview and identified various committees that were required.  The enthusiasm was great and many volunteered to help. There is still plenty of room for others to volunteer. Committees are listed elsewhere in this newsletter -- which committee are you going to join??  Many hands will make this a great show and a tremendous experience for all involved.

The HVCC Garden and Flower Show was well attended and thanks to the many volunteers from the Iris, Day Lily, and Hosta Societies a wide array of questions were answered for the people visiting the booth. The handouts, picture boards, and slide presentation all enhanced the professionalism of the booth.  Thanks to everyone for the hard work in making this a successful show.  ANDWould you believe it?? Sleet and snow greeted us as we departed the show on Sunday.

Not to worry, Spring is really on the way many plants are already pushing their way to the surface.  Just remember, we need to prepare our gardens for the new Hostas that we will pickup at the annual plant sale.  Janet Vinyard will host the Humongous Hosta sale on May 17, 2003 at her house. Bring a lunch, relax, socialize and pick out some new Hostas for your garden.

Aprils meeting promises another packed agenda.  Carol Mastromarchi will present our program on Top Notch Perennial Garden Maintenance.  Kent and Dave will continue to refine the Cut Leaf Show by discussing registration procedures, committee responsibilities, and preparing leaves for exhibit.  So, as your Hosta emerge this spring, identify which ones you will be displaying and nurture them to perfection for the show.

A special invitation is extended to our members.  Come to the meetings and then join our speaker(s) for an informal social gathering at one of the local restaurants.  It is an opportunity to interact with professional growers and other club members outside the formal meeting.  If youre interested in going to dinner, let Jim or Meg Dalton know at the beginning of the meeting so that the restaurant will know how many people to expect.

Hope to see you ALL at the April meeting WOW, wouldnt that be something.
