HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Winter has finally arrived snow, sleet, rain and more snow have combined to give our plants their winter blanket. If you are like us, youre trying to settle back into some sort of routine.  The Holiday Season is a really great time of sharing with family and friends.  However, there comes a time when it is nice to just sit back and enjoy peace and quiet.  Well, dont relax too much.  It is now time to think about what will be coming in the spring and summer. Yep, there is always something to do with the garden. What new plants will we add --- Which ones will we move --- Which ones will we pot up for the clubs first hosta sale at Faddegons on August 13???

YES, your Board of Directors has planned another banner year for the membership.  With your involvement and participation it will become another successful and memorable year.

Starting off with The Doldrums Party on February 19th see details in this newsletter.  Followed in March with Elaine Malloy talking about Primrose and April, Mike Shadrack, an internationally recognized British Horticulture Speaker, photographer, and Hosta hybridizer.  He co-authored the recently published The Color Encyclopedia of Hosta with Diana Grenfell.   Of course our May plant sale just gets better, Janet continues to provide an amazing selection of the newest and most tantalizing Hostas out there.  SO, save your Hosta dollars and buy these great specimens from your club. See the list in this newsletter. This should be enough to tantalize you and encourage your attendance at our meetings just think there is much more to come in June, July, August, and of course the annual picnic in September.

September is doubly important this year because it is an election year for your club. YES, THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT VICE PRESIDENT SECRETARY AND MEMBERSHIP becomes open.  The Newsletter and Web Site manager positions will also be open.  Our club has made momentous strides in the past few years.  In order for this to continue, fresh ideas and a rotation of members in these positions are necessary.

In October, I asked for volunteers to staff a nominating committee.  I want to thank Ed Pollick who has volunteered to chair this committee.  We still need members to help Ed form a slate of candidates for the open positions.  I am sure that most of you have ideas about what your club could/should do.  Our goal is to have a slate published by July/August time frame so that the membership can make an informed vote at the picnic in September and the new officers can be installed at the October meeting.

HOPEFULLY,  you will become involved either volunteering for the committee or as a candidate for one of the positions.  It is important that our Club remain vibrant and responsive to the membership.  This can only happen when new people with new ideas step forward.

MAKE A COMITMENT --- PUT YOURSELF IN ONE OF THESE POSITIONS!!
See you at the Doldrums.
