Care After Vaginal Birth
Your doctor should give you instuctions upon discharge, but this is here for your reading as well.
During the first 6 weeks after delivery, your body (tissues and organs) return back to their nonpregnant state
While this process is in effect, the following steps maay be necessary:

- NO SEX!!! (if you have stitches from a tear or episiotomy)
- cleaning sutures with antispetic (you can use Bedadine diluted in water, sitz bath, or Dermoplast which is available at any drug store)
- Emptying bladder every 4-6 hours to prevent urine infection
- A diet rich in fiber to prevent constipation
- Contraceptives (birth control) sought around 4 weeks after.
Your doctor may give you other guidelines to follow. It is always important to listen to the advice of your doctor.
