HSM Trojans  5-3 Bolton County Lions     League   Thursday 22nd April 2004

Yet another fine Trojans performance, although the game did get off to a disappointing start. Trojans found themselves 3-0 down after only 11 minutes, with all three Lions goals coming from close range shots. In the opening 20 minutes, Trojans seemed tired and lack lustre, perhaps as a result of the game the previous evening.

Mid way through the first half, Trojans lost both Charles and Alex to injury, and for a short time, heads were down, but the lads pulled themselves together and rallied each other. Trojans raised their game, and came close to scoring several times. On 26 minutes, Trojans unfortunately missed a penalty, but a minute later, Jordan found the net with a fine long distance strike.

Two minutes later, George set off running, and beat several Lions players to score an excellent goal.

The second half saw Trojans continue to play some superb football. Mark came close to scoring, and Alix and Jake were strong in midfield. The defence of Arthur, Robert, Lee and Luke were particularly strong, and limited Lions to very few shots, with any that did get through, dealt with confidently by Curtis.

Mid way through the second half, Charles and Alex felt able to come back on, with Charles moving upfront, and Alex moving into midfield. Trojans were awarded another penalty on 46 minutes, which Charles calmly converted with a powerful shot.

On 54 minutes, Charles once again found himself on the score sheet with a close range shot, and the game was put beyond all doubt 2 minutes later when Jordan scored his second and Trojans fifth.

This was a gutsy and committed performance to come from 3 goals down, to win 5-3 was a fantastic result, and richly deserved. Each and every player gave 100%, and contributed to an outstanding and inspired team performance.
