Before purchasing a horse you should take riding lessons for at least a year or two. You should read all the books and magazines you can, to learn about horses. It's very important to know how to take care of your animal. It's better to know what your doing than to learn from a mistake. Which could result anywhere from a sick, injured, or dead horse.

Some basic information you must know:

You will need to worm your horse at least every other month. I worm mine every month. There are different wormers for different seasons. Ask someone at your local feed store for assistance, or contact a vet for more information.

You will need to get your horses hoofs trimmed/shod every 6 to 8 weeks.

And,You will need to ask the previous owner for a vet record of your horse so that you can keep up on vaccinations, and teeth floatings.
