Experience
2001- present
Research Assistant II at the Sensorimotor Control Laboratory, Neurological Sciences Institute, Oregon Health & Sciences University. This lab studies sensorimotor control of balance and posture, using movable platforms, 3-D motion analysis systems, and electromyography (EMG). My experiences include working & training with animals; collecting, processing & archiving data; calibrating equipment; working in aseptic conditions; administering anesthesia; preparing & assisting in surgeries. Other duties include administrative support, such as: tracking grant expenses & ordering supplies; updating lab protocols.
2001
Laboratory Assistant Internship with Molly Manier in the Houck & Arnold Laboratory, Department of Zoology, Oregon State University. This lab studies the evolution of geographical changes and species differences in continuously-distributed traits, using quantitative genetic methods. My duties include the following: performing research experiments; DNA extraction & tissue digestions; calculating chemical concentrations; DNA quantification; disposing of waste; compliance with lab policies & protocols; storing & handling animal tissue; recording data & observations
1997-2001
Assistant Director with Angela White at the Equine Research Facility, Department of Animal Sciences, Oregon State University Horse Center. The Horse Center offers classes and research in Equine Industry, Equine Marketing, Young Horse Training, Coaching, Introduction to Equine Science & Equine Reproduction. My experiences include: handling livestock; administering vaccinations; monitoring health of livestock; treating various health conditions. Other duties include administrative responsibilities, such as: speaking & writing to large groups; organizing fundraisers; organizing & developing programs; compliance with & updating protocols; developing Horse Center website (www.orst.edu/dept/animal-sciences/horse/index.html); general maintenance; advertising programs & graphic designing.
