Wes Craven is the original writer/director of A nightmare on elm street. He wrote parts 1, 3 and of course wes cravens new nightmare. He is also famous for direscting the Scream trilogy. Some of his other films include The Hills have eyes, They, and last house on the left. I think he will always be most famous for a nightmare on elm street.
