NEWSPAPER.
With the unification of western Ukraine with Soviet Ukraine first issue of newspaper was printed on October 17, 1939. Nineteen issues were printed with 1000 newspapers in circulation. During the German invasion of Ukraine Germans printed newspaper �Horokhivski visti� Horokhiv�s News in Ukrainian about front and orders of German authority. After the liberation in 1944 editorial building was destroyed as well as printing presses and types. Everything had to be rebuild from the scratch. In the 60's the newspaper was renamed �Budivnyk Komunizmu� Builder of Communism. The newspaper was printed three times per week with 15 papers in circulation. In 1980 during few weeks documentary about the paper�s history and work was filmed. During 1980 two documentaries about the newspaper were filmed. The paper had writing contribution form over 300 of its readers. People from different walks of life wrote about everyday life issues. In 1970 the paper established the prize for best amateur correspondent. That same year editors of the newspaper were awarded diploma of Union of Journalists of USSR. In 1977 the newspaper celebrated its 5000's issue. In 1991 newspaper was renamed �Horokhivskyi Visnyk� Horokhiv�s Herald. Right now the newspaper is in economical difficulty circulation decreased to 1.5 thousand copies. Today it is printed only once a week. Never the less the herald is still read and lives on.
