POST SECONDARY EDUCATION
Horokhiv College is one of the biggest agricultural colleges in Ukraine. Founded on March 13,1953 as a school of agricultural technology. Initial courses were in agriculture field, agricultural vegetable crop, forestry and beekeeping. Form the beginning the students worked in co-op education. The studies were reinforced with hands on learning. The school had its own field, orchard and live stock farms.  Here students researched, experimented and received their practical education. In 1952 the tech school became an agricultural college. Horokhiv College (technicum) expanded with the building of a new campus in 1978 and addition of Berestechko College of zootechnology. 



























Today the Horokhiv College has 48 classes and laboratories, two computer classes and one information technology class. Programs of study are agriculture, zootechnology, accounting, farming technology, commercial technology.  Students are provided with housing two gymnasiums, stadium, sport courts, weight room, cafeteria with seating capacity of 220. Library has total holdings of 60000 books. There are 850 full-time students and 295 part-time, the education staff is 100 of professors and teaching assistants. College has 4101 hectares of land 3500 for farming and 117hectares of forest.  The college has its own production of big horned cattle, pigs and beehive farm.  In 1999 all teaching staff successfully passed attestation and accreditation, and received licenses and certified for all the programs.  With the help of Lviv State Agricultural University the program of short-term, part-time studies was set-up in the area of agriculture (18 students) and controller audit (40 students).  From the opening of the college 16000 students had graduated. One of the graduates is K.Washchuk  member of a parlament of Ukraine (Verhovna Rada).
