Sherm's Bronze Age Finds

Bronze, a mixture of copper and tin, replaced stone in tool and weapon production as early man discovered the secrets of metallurgy. The Bronze Age is generally referred to the period from about 2000 to 600 BC.

I was fortunate to find this later Bronze Age socketed ax head

(1000-700 BC) in August 1999

I was more fortunate still to find this early Bronze Age (1800-1500 BC) flanged ax head in August 2001. The ax head is currently at the Castle Museum in Norwich undergoing study. It is, and will most likely always remain, my oldest metal detecting find.
