The Swinging 60's!!!! Baby Yeah

Hello and thankyou for visiting my website. On our site we will be talking about the swinging sixties baby yeah. after you have looked at our site you will know about drugs,hippies,sex etc:. Have fun. I can tell you now there were a lot of events in the 60's but here is one of the worst, for instance the assasination of president Kennedy. Where was as shown on T.V a small footage of his funeral which forever changed the politics in the United States. But I dont think anybody can ever forget the face of president Kennedy who you could say was a hero to the Americans. Another example of events which happned was the Vietnam war now who can have ever forgotton about that. It was tragic. The loss of innoncence given from the Americans. Which straight away tore the Americans in half as protesters and patriots which then we were judged on to take sides with in this war. But I can tell you now all we and the rest of the world wanted was peace. Everything felt as if it got effected by the war even the fashion industry. The Vietnam war was a cataylist for peace within America. As a approach to this there came a festival in 1969 marked as a peak of the peace movement, this lasted for three days as half a million people gathered round yagsur's farm in New York with non stop music for three days. Music was played from the likes of Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Arlo Guthrie, singer-songwriter Bob Dylan and Creedence Clearwater Revival. It was was three days there people spent with out food, drink and no bathrooms which caused the longest and largest traffic jam recorded in history. A lot of people left Woodstock New York with a different oppinion on life which may have changed them forever. The agitation for equal opportunities stated off forms of upheaval. Young people in particular rejected the stable patterens of life that their parents had created since the W.W.2. Some turned to radical political activities, many more started new senses of dress and sexual behaviour.
The visible signs became obvious when hair started to become longer and beards became more and more common. Blue jeans and
t-shirts replaced the traditional slacks, jackets and the tie. The use of illegal drugs increased dramatically in an effort to free the mind of stresses and past memories. Rock and Roll bands grew and transformed into many musical variations. The Beatles and Rolling Stones took the country by storm.

Architecture in the 60's was undergoing a refinement of modernism and a move to more streamline contemporary look.Architects used light and space.Some archietects names were Philip Johnson and John Burgee.
The sixties fachion began with crew cuts on men and bouffant hairstyles on women.Men's shirts were often plaid and buttoned down the front while women wore knee-length dresses in puplic places.By 1965ish miniskirts and hotpants.were often worn with go-go boots.
In education during the 60's college campuses became places of debate and scences of protests.Great numbers of young adults,baby boomers,reaching military draft age and not yet voting age(minimum voting age 18 until 1971) caused a struggle which played a major part in debates on campus. Another craze of the 60's were the haircuts used by the hippies and people in that time. most of the styles were middle cut with slight curls, although some people mainly blondes prefered the long straight hair. These hair styles weren'nt only attractive but many of the lady's were infact intellegtent. The mens hair cuts were virtually long and uncut like the beatles and most of the hippies had quite long
