»lihen the lihen are essentially humans. they live in the village, acheten centre. their life is very similar to that of 19th-century rural english village life (in the cotswolds). their technological advances are random; they have some things that we have today, and others that we gave up a long time ago. they have low ceilings, gas lamps, typewriters, horse-and-cart/horseback transportation, etc. they worship horses, and also employ them. they give food and lodging to the horses that then pull their carts, carry them from one place to the next, and plow their fields. acheten centre is a small village, and everyone knows each other. most businesses are family businesses. a list of shops and a map of the town is coming soon |
»csrinn the csrinn is a strange group of people that live at the edge of the forest sair on the eastern edge of the acheten valley. each individual csrinn inhabits two bodies: that of a lihen, and that of a wrigyn. they are not full lihen or wrigyn; the lihen body (called 'the lhennes') is a mix of lihen, human, and the aspects that make it a csrinn, and the wrigyn body (called 'the wrageis') is a mix of wrigyn, horse, and the aspects that make it a csrinn. the csrinn is a very complicated being, so let's start from the beginning. the csrinn (plural: csrinn) is born the same as any lihen or wrigyn, with a slight twist. they are born separately; the lhennes from the lhennes of the mother, and the wrageis from the wrageis of the mother. the wrageis learns to walk within hours, just as a real horse would, but unlike humans, the lhennes also learns to walk within hours. they have a bizarre connection; although they inhabit separate bodies and have separate minds and thoughts, each body can vaguely sense what the other is thinking, feeling, or about to do. each body moves and thinks individually, but because they have this connection, they are very aware of each other. the lhennes spends about half its life on the back of the wrageis. no tack is used or needed, because the lhennes learns to ride as the wrageis learns to walk. it moves smoothly with the wrageis, and because of the connection, they are able to convey to each other where they want to go. they do not actually speak, or even use words; it is more of a general sense ('the sixth sense' as some people say). --to be continued-- |
