| Unlegacy are a five piece Death/Black Metal band hailing from Santiago,I must admit that I really like this band and I hope they make a breakout of Chile so the rest of the world can enjoy the aggression of their music,they have a demo "A Great Epitaph of the Creation"coming out this year but in the mean time checkout their download on their site for just a taste on how HEAVY this band is.I had a few words with one of their guitarist Pablo Kremer to tell me more about the band.(click logo to go to site) | ||||||||||||||||||||
| ECM:Tell us a brief History of the band? | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Pablo:Unlegacy surges like the new stage of the one which originally was a musical project between companions of university called Assembler(composed by Marcelo Fernandez,Luis Roco and Pablo Kremer).To commencements of the year 2000 Luiz Fuenzalida(guitar)and Aldo Roblero(vocalist)unite to the band,this event defines the origin of Unlegacy.Their contributions produced big change in the musical line and dedication.Due to the level of exigency that we imposed us,at few time is produced an important low in the drumming arriving in substitution Luiz Zelaya.Also for musical reasons a new bass player incorporate to the band Ronny Munoz,who participate during our formative period.Finally to commencements of 2001 the last modification is produced and new we have a new bass player in Jose Luis Orellana,the change basically complys to compostion motives and injecting new death metal energy. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| ECM:I read on your website that your doing something new in 2003 when can we expect this? | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Pablo:Our proposal for 2003 consists in two stages:improving the visual look of the band and modify the musical style.In the visual topic we begin by changeing the logo to one more aggressive and dark,we are taking care of the gear that we used in our presentations and manufactured visual material(posters,T-shirt,etc.)in order to distribute in stores and pubs.In the musical aspect we are leaving behind the Thrasher influence in order to incorporate Death Metal strength mixed with the darkness of Black Metal.Now our music is more brutal and at the same time harmonius.The positive effect of this evolution has been noted clearly in the last presentations. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| ECM:I've heard two songs by the band"Unlegacy"and"Black Messiah Arrival"which are very brutal,will the new material be in this style? | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Pablo:The style of the band follows the line of"Black Messiah Arrival".For the same motive of evolution that I explained previously,we have modified several songs even "Unlegacy"You would be surprised if you heard the new version of that song compared to the original..When we record it we will send it,so you can publish it on your website. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| ECM:Describe to me how an Unlegacy show is,a lot of metalheads banging their heads? | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Pablo:In presentations of Unlegacy everything happens but we need to publish the songs so people will know them and they will bang their heads to the rhythm of the brutality.One could say our last presentation was our best,the people listened to the songs and in the the most brutal moments they began the Metal disorder,until a local headbanger fell on the table of connections.In general Unlegacy offer a good mixture of brutality and technique. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| ECM:You guys are from Santiago do you play most of your shows there or outside of the city? | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Pablo:The majority of the presentations are in Santiago.Outside of the city we have had few opportunities and that is why we are trying to send our material on cd to some contacts we have in Valdivia,Los Angeles,Valparaiso,Rancaqua,Melipilla,etc. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| ECM:In your opinion whats the best show you done to date and why? | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Pablo:Like i mentioned previously it was this past May at Necropolis Bar in Malipu.In general the sound was good with good amps and equipment a lot of beer,the people where very enthusiastic with the band and in summary one could say in the Chilean language"Quedo la Caga" | ||||||||||||||||||||
| ECM:What do you hope for the future of Unlegacy? | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Pablo:We in the close future want to record with better resources and get a product of good quality,one we could sell on the scene,Also considering the new focus of the band,we wnat to make new songs with strength in the Death/Black Metal.Maybe this is our year of test to see if the band is well guided or not,we are carrying out our best effort. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| ECM:Your website only contains one page at the moment what can we expect when the official version is released? | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Pablo:On our webpage we want to include a lot of information that lets the visitors get to know the band upclose.we want to include connections to the band line up,info on past shows,have a download section of audio and visual,interviews that have been published in other zines,have merchendise for sale and upgrade it with the latest news of the band. | ||||||||||||||||||||
