ECM:So how long has Battlerage been around and any new news since the release of Metal Slaughter?
Francisco:Hi Hector and thanx for the interest in our band!! Battlerage born in October-November 2002,so we have been around for a year now.We have been playing live almost every month,the crew response have been great!!On the news side,Mauricio Cavalla is out from Battlerage for personal reasons,so Alejandro Oliva,our live session guitar is now the man with the 6 strings.Now we are searching a second guitarist toto complete Battlerage's sound.And,the most important news,soon will be out oursecond demo,entitled "Return of the Axeman",with 6 more pure TRUE HEAVY METAL songs!!!!!Watch out for it!!!!
ECM:The band has gotten alot of good reviews around the world,how has the band taken this?
Francisco:Well,we are very proud with "Metal Slaughter".The reviews have been great and the response of the bangers in our live shows have been good too!!! This is very important for us.We do what we like,but if someone else like our work,we feel strong to make more TRUE HEAVY METAL!!!!We hope the new demo will have the same kind of response,because we are very happy with the new songs.
ECM:Do you plan on having any new material to unleash to the metal world in the near future?
Francisco:As I told you,the new demo will be out in December.Now we are writing more songs for future works,so we won't stop our TRUE HEAVY METAL!!!!
ECM:There are other True Metal bands in Chile but none have hit as hard as Battlerage outside of the country any explination on this?
Francisco:Well,to be honest,we think no one in out country had interest in this kind of metal.You know,Chile is well known by their extreme metal scene,but no one seems to care about old underground heavy metal bands as Manilla Road or Griffin.So,we think we have to focus our promotion outside our own country!!! But,happily,we were wrong.The bangers in Chile have been interested in our metal.So,we do the promotion of "Metal Slaughter" mainly outside of Chile,and we will follow the same for "Return of the Axeman".
ECM:Your music deals with crushing the fuck'in posers and battle themes,great subjects,will you keep this up with more violence on the next release?and what gives you the inspiration to write such lyrics?
Francisco:Yes,the lyrics still focus in the destruction of every fucking poser on the earth(read the lyrics of "Metal Slaughter" song),and with some battle and dark themes.Inspiration comes from the everyday battles we have to fought against the world and against ourselves and our own limitations,and from books,other bands,movies,and my own imagination.Violence will always be present in our lyrics,because violence is part of life.
ECM:Can you take us through each song and tell the people that never heard the band what their missing?
Francisco:Uf!! Well I can try:
Mortus Advocare:Something like an arcane and occult summoning beneath a great storm and with fire burning high.A dark intro.
By Steel I Reign Supreme:Still one of my favorite songs,it sounds like a kick in your face.Very direct HEAVY METAL with a catchy chorus and great guitar solos.The lyrics deal with the majesty of the TRUE HEAVY METAL music!!! This is our live opener!!!
The Battleslain:An epic,heroic song.Mid tempo and melodic HEAVY METAL,in the teutonic tradition.This is the most personal lyric,as it deal with the death of a dear friend.
Preacher:A Runnin Wild coverfrom their first album,"Gates to Purgatory".We tried to do it as close as to the original as possible.
Grind Their Bones:The fastest and rawest song from the demo.Pure violence,with pounding guitars,machine gun kick drums,killer bass and,of course,a wild voice!!! The lyrics deal with the dreamed poser's massacre every TRUE metalhead wish for!!!
Dark Arrival of Powers Malign:The darkest song.Some catchy rhythms drive you from one change to another.A very well done song,in my opinion.The lyrics deal with HP Lovecraft myths,with a personal touch.

ECM:So how did you pick Running Wild's "Preacher"to do as a cover?
FranciscoWell,we thought nobody will do it,so,why not?I think it's a great but understimated song from one of the best HEAVY METAL albums in history.
ECM:How has the Chilean Metal scene responded to your demo?
Francisco:The demo is SOLD OUT now,but we sell only 50% in Chile.The bangers always ask for the demo,but,sadly,there are no more.The reviews in Chile have been great from the bangers and from the webzines and fanzines.We are very happy.Watch out for the new demo!!!

This band had to be the first POWER METAL band to be on the site as I stated in the review of their "Metal Slaughter"demo.I got this interview in a little late but as you will read they are ready to crush down the false ones again.Francisco(Drums) tells us a little more on whats going on as of late.
