Chapter 2
The First Hello

Here. This is your room. Amy, since we have such a huge house, we decided to hire a maid. You are not to socialize with her at all when you are home. Deal? Amys parents asked her. Yeah, Amy responded. Now unpack. Were going to work now, they said. Bye Loser Bruisers, Amy replied under her breath. As soon as Amy heard the garage door slam shut, she casually walked downstairs to explore the house. Hmmm, nice kitchen. She said to herself. Itll come in handy for that maid Ill never see, and for my making midnight snacks. She chuckled to herself.
Suddenly, she heard a hello from behind her. She flipped around as quick as a wink. Hello. Are you the maid? Amy asked. Yes, the woman responded. My name is Concha. You must be Amy! Nice to meet you! she said.
Hello Concha. Yes I am Amy.  My parents said were not supposed to be talking but lets break the rule of the Loser Bruisers! What do you say? Amy said almost out of breath. Um whos the Loser Bruisers, Amy? And, why do we want to break the rule of them? Concha asked with a questioning look on her face. Um The Loser Bruisers are what I um call my parents. Amy said slowly. Now, Amy Im sure your parents Concha started to say. No, you dont understand. Theyre not my real parents! Theyre my foster parents. My foster parents who are never around to love me or take care of me or watch out for me. In our old apartment in Wisconsin, I would just stay home for 4 hours after school cooped up in my room, doing my homework, or just sitting there secretly talking to my best friend, Allison, on the phone. I miss her so much. But sadly, well never be able to keep in touch because well, she doesnt know our phone number, and the Loser Bruisers hide our phone from me so I can never use it. Amy blurted out. Oh, you poor thing! Well, what do you say you and I just have these secret talks everyday before your parents come home? But, I dont know where the phone is! Sorry! Concha said with a smile on her face.
Thats great! Ill have someone to talk to all the time! That makes me so happy. Oh, by the way, my parents come home at 7:00 sharp. They then sit down to dinner, eat, and then head up to bed since they go to work at 6:00 in the morning. Theyre usually in bed by 9:30 Amy responded.
Suddenly, Amy heard the sound of the garage door opening. Oh no! Theyre home! Amy exclaimed. She sprinted to her room while Concha pretended to be dusting. Evening Dr. OHara, you are looking lovely this evening. Mrs. OHara, what a fine dress you have on! How was your day at work? Concha said politely but groaning in her mind. Were just fine, thank you. Now, shouldnt you be cleaning something? Dr. and Mrs. OHara said snottily. Amy was listening through the keyhole from her room. Lets head to our room, shall we, Arthur? Mrs. OHara said trying to get away from Concha. They were very racist people who never would tell anyone of it. What an excellent idea, Genevieve, Dr. OHara responded quickly.
