[1] The Arstibara are a rank of elite fit to serve the Great King and can only be deployed if the King is present. They were chosen from the Amrtaka (Immortals) corps. They fight like Sparabara. (see below)

[2] The Amrtaka, were the ‘10,000’ Immortals chosen from the base Sparabara, which formed the bulk of the Persian foot. They fight like the Sparabara.  (see below)

[3] Only with the Great King himself.

[4] With each of the satrapal Commands, if more than one present. Cannot be in the same Command as the King.

[5] All optional Inferior troops, must be fielded as such after Issus.

[6] The Sparabara, were mainly protected archers with a line of spearmen behind a wall of pavises. If they charge, or follow-up any opponents they lose the pavise protection for the duration. If attacked, the front rank fight as Spearmen with the cohesion factor of double-armed Bowmen (i.e. +1). Once pushed back, the pavises are permanently lost.

[7] May support Spearmen.
