About the Author of Elephants Do Like Beer

Philip J. Hopkins was born in Philadelphia in 1919, the youngest of six children. He attended West Philadelphia Catholic Boys’ High School, and later majored in Psychology at Duquesne University.

He served in the South Pacific with the United States Marine Corps during WWII. After the war he settled in Southern California, where he taught at St. Catherine’s Military Academy. Later, he became a food broker in Los Angeles, and over the years worked in various phases of the food and beverage business.

Until his death in 2000 in Pasadena, California, he dedicated his life to helping the less fortunate. Along the way, he helped establish the Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

Phil’s short stories are based on real life experiences, and how he survived many of them with a keen sense of humor and honesty.

This book was published by his beloved family as a remembrance of his life and legacy.
