Yes, the trail of tears ended here. They left a lot of the states and traveled here through many more. No one came to their aid. Horrible wrongs occured. Have been going on, still are going on.
Out west in the reservations, things are very bad.
I went to a powwow last night. Osage nation mainly. Wonderful, beautiful, powerful.
Was fortunate enough to sit with a full blood and learn about the ceremony...
...Love the learning of it all, this life.

That is beautiful chu'a. I can feel the power and love of that place. A miserable thing to have happened to such a proud people. There are no words.
Still, today, the abuse goes on. I'm sure I know just a little bit of what has occured.
They struck oil on this land, had to bring in the tribe. Then they take the money, legally? and not. Murder, theiving, anything goes.
Government overseeing things...treating these people like children. It is sick. And then the money for the cigarette shops, casinos. Money helps but it is with such a lack of respect. Families torn apart from dispair. Chemical abuse. And the bigotry...here and throughout the nation.
I understand the militant stance. I am glad in my personal life I can grow closer, perhaps heal in a small way. Show that not all whites are cut from the same cloth.
It makes me sad and ashamed of my heritage sometimes.
I am glad that you have retained pride in yours, no matter what the bastards have done.
Pretty mountain thoughts.

Yes Amy,
It continues to this day and in so many ways and places that to only list those individual wrongs, perpetrated onto a group of peoples by those who are the supposed caretakers of those same peoples rights, would require an epic volume, to scribe that list.
You probably know of that on-going struggle that takes place as we speak, in the Big mountain and Black mesa area of the Hopi-Dineth reservation in the Southwest.
Where a government, in the pocket of the holdings of big business, under partial control of the mormons church, have committed unspeakable atrocities of genocide, starvation, murder, denial of fundamental rights of freedom of speech, liberty, the right to worship, and the rounding up and driving from their sacred and inherited homelands.
Those same lands granted to them by that same government forever, because of it being the most harsh and hated of waste places within the borders of this country.
( Lord, please don't get me started. I'll tell everything I know!)
To late!
This is slick willy politics of a sort wild bill could never have dreamed up, on the best of his days.
Politics that set up appearances to make it seem it is the two tribes, living in harmony for decades, suddenly raise up in conflict over land disputes that were well settled when Kit Carson road rough-shod over that place. The final outcome of which is the disinfranchisement of both peoples from the land, for the greater good of the mormon controlled Peabody Mining company's slurry operation sending the last drops of that areas ground water to Nevada, and the electrical needs of the casinos of Vegas.
But it only starts there, as their uranium mining operations also requires them to strip-mine the very heart from the Mother Earth and leave contaminated slag piles of radioactive mining tailings behind, to pollute what little precious water is left above ground for those few people not already succumbed to their other devious practises of war against two nations.
A short history lesson may be needed in order to better understand this supposed 'dispute'.
But first let me say that Hopi means Peaceful people. A nation who has never fought a war against this country's government, or ever signed any treaty with it. A nation within a nation.
A sedentary people who once lived in a peaceful way, in the cliff-dwellings a scant few miles from where they now reside. Known as the Anistazi(sp?) or ancient or old ones at that time.
When the Great Spirit set them on their migrations, in order to set holy markers around this, the "Turtle's Island" they traveled many trails, to build great mounds to mark which clan or family was present in each place they went.
When these migrations were complete, those clans who still remained, followed instructions to return to the place where they live to this day.
Even though it was the most barren and forsaken place within all their many travels, it was where they were told to settle permanently, for many different reasons. Only two of which will I mention here.
Foremost was because of its very barren nature, the people must always rely upon their connection to the Great Spirit, in order to be successful in gleaning sustenance from such a barren place. This was for the good of their spiritual selves, so to keep them from being caught up and then lost to all those distractions found in the world. As had been the case with all the others who had also been placed here as caretakers, but failed to succeed, so were lost.
Second, but probably of even more import.....
But I see this has grown over-long, and I also need to quit for RL things that beckon me. But if it is of any interest, I will gladly continue upon my return?

Yes it is of interest.
I lived once in Arizona and have traveled through the southwest many times. Seen what is happening to the land there. I have also seen how the reservations are there. And heard very sad stories of the greed and bigotry. Recently even, horrid things. It is a sick power that wields itself this way.
Please speak more about it when you have the time.

Second, but probably of even more import,
And accounting in large part as the reason it is more important to the traditional Hopi to live in religious harmony with nature than to be happy, is that belief in the area of land they live upon being a microcosm for the rest of their world, as it exist on this, the Turtle Island.
It is thought that there exist upon Mother Earth, sacred places that effect outcomes for her larger body. Similar I suppose, to how points of accupuncture work upon the human body.
Their residence within the Four Corners area and Black Mesa and another directly opposite it, somewhere in or near Tibet are two such points.
These also happen to be two of the places where the parts of the sacred tablets are held in trust, until the time they will be assembled. Another is somewhere in or near Mt. Kilimanjaro, in Africa.
The point to be made is the firm belief that the Hopi hold in their being placed in trust of keeping this ground covering the very heart of the Mother sacred and pure of defilement. In order to prevent cataclysms like droughts, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other disasters from befalling the greater surrounding world.
Amy,
I'm sorry it took me so long to return to this, but even now time is short. So I will not be able to continue in the depth I would like, or in a way this deserves, in order to show how much it means to me to be able to unfold the message contained within the greater story here.
I became sidetracked once more with deep feelings about current atrocities that brought up old wounds.
I had intended to express more about things I now see again clearly, as only having value from their lessons.
So instead, I will only mention a few things more, while standing back from them. But I will also place one link for you to read.
But first, I wish to say that starting from 1906 and continuing through 1939, government troops continuously raided the towns on and around the mesa and kidnapped all the Hopi children, to be sent away to a school where they were stripped of their clothes and anything they possessed relating to their people. To be dressed in white clothes and only allowed to think white thoughts. To be whipped for any use of Hopi words or thoughts.
The acoma and others were sent home a few months in the summers. But because of the Hopi Elders resistance to this kidnapping of children, their children weren't returned, but farmed out as a slave work force to local farmers through the summer months. Once they reached the seventh level of white education, they were sent to white families in towns and farms in other states far from their homes.
But in truth, from the time of the first encroachment of Spanish, and later Mexican government, until this very day, a small story of bad treatment is being written in the desert sands. Only to be blown away by the next ill wind. To ready it for the next chapter.
So it must soon become apparent the burden is too weighty for one to carry. It must soon be recognized that burden is only the weight of despair. A weight to break the very back of any who cannot lay it aside. Place it down and walk far enough from it to look at it clearly, and learn the lessons it contains.
When we fail to learn the lessons from our own despair, it will become a swift running wolf, hard to out distance. So we will be overcome, once more.
More, later.
Chu'a
Blessings
I place this link with a plea that you and any others with a slight interest it truth and fairness, please go read. It is as much factual information on a subject spanning many years, as can be placed in a small space.

We all
Have been blessed to a greater or lesser extent, who are fortunate enough to have been born or brought up within the boundaries of Turtle's Island.
At least so far.
This also holds truth about other places as well, to a greater or lesser extent, depending on which set of circumstances are being taken into consideration.
But the reality remains that if you have enough to eat and a warm, safe place to sleep each night, you are in the minority within the world's population.
If you are allowed to freely state your dissenting views and concerns regarding those in places of power above you, then you move to a much smaller and more elite minority, yet.
When your family income allows for some luxuries within your life, such as automobiles, spacious homes and property, medical coverage, electrical appliances, more changes of clothing and footwear than you can cary in one suitcase, a larger number of relatives who have died from peaceful causes than violent ones, then you have moved into a very small top few percentage indeed.
We, the human species, are involved in the effort of turning the great wheel of life ever forward.
As a species we are not aware of this struggle to turn this great wheel, anymore than we are as individuals within that species.
Yet to do less, or to become less than productive in our effort at our task, is to put our very existence within jeopardy.
There is some legacy and a small amount of supporting fact to suggest this same struggle has taken place upon the face of the planet long before our accepted current recorded history. Only to have failed completely, or been set back almost to starting over from square-one, first-scratch.
We know it to be true on more local levels, and some greater bodies of evidence even suggest the stories of the almost total annihilation from a great flood to be true, in our more resent history.
A suggestion of fire is the supposed cause for the next, in some supposed 'prophecies'.
Others state the world will flip positions of poles on its axis, once more. Caused from the great and final war, by some, being struck by a large heavenly body, by others, and internal upheaval of volcanic action, by the next.
Can we prevent any of this, successfully? A seemed simple answer comes to mind.
But a great mind once said;
".. mankind does not go out with a bang, but a whimper, instead."
Barring natural disaster for a moment, this seems to hold a more emanate truth. At least one that seems to have need of a more immediate response, judging from what is seen all about the globe.
But in the interim, we are comfortable. We are well sunk down within our individual elaborately feathered nest. Besides, we are too intelligent and scientifically advanced a species, for those "in charge" to allow such disasters to befall us, unaware.
We are too busy struggling to keep ourselves up to our own standards, to have much time or desire to place at risk any part of what we have worked so hard to acquire.
We are afraid to be seen standing outside the crowd of the norm, for fear of being singled out of the heard of normalcy. Labelled with defaming and so detrimental to our wellbeing, labels. We cannot afford such risk for so little personal gain.
Perhaps we do understand a feeling of necessity to do something, and will, tomorrow. Next day for a certainty..
Or maybe we are truthful enough with ourselves to understand just how powerless we really are, when confronted with how far out of our control things are advanced and how little effect we could have on making any change of any consequence. Even though we would willingly risk much, were it not so.
Besides, why preach to the choir? We and all those around us see the ills, know the wrongs, speak out against them at every opportunity. Try to live in a more gentle and caring way upon the earth. Gladly extol all the virtues of the better path to all who are open to our input. For all the little good it does, or change it makes.
Yes, despair is a swift running wolf.

You write:
"You just never know which Earthly forms your Spirit Guides may take........"
Can you, or DO you undertake the possibility that our spirit guides, while in all probability, are a connection to God, are separate from God, are Not God personified?
But instead, They are as much a part of ourselves as a part of God.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I see it as the shame of an affliction, that which has been caused by all the rhetoric and connotation placed upon peoples across the western world, almost without exception... Who, through an honest desire to know their maker have placed trust in the hands of others.
Others who had more to gain from holding them in the darkness of fear and superstition, instead of simply acknowledging that which was evident to the thinking mind of any pondering that question most sought answer to:
"Where Are You, My GOD?"
Caused from the part of God living within each of us, seeking that part of God living within the oneness of us all, and within the universe as well.
Each two legged will-creature walking the planet, will seek out validation to affirm from within his animal-earth/time bound form, that star-stuff from where he knows he came. It is the natural question formed within a consciousness laying un-bound by time and forming from beyond the primordial soup restricting us to this plain of existence, where we have need to ask.
Yet what I see is generations set back from the deliberate intention of founded organized religious church-- dealing in the coin of souls, to their own benefit and detriment of those lost to their rhetoric and dogma being proliferated as method to set themselves as mediator or go between of man and his God, for their own gain.
Were it ever possible to un-learn all that which was taught through this reveled religion-taught at the hands of "High Priest" within the sanctity of this "Church" you have been instructed in since before birth, you would then see how easy it is to 'discover' your God, because he has been standing right in front of you all along.
