This is a finished story.

She’s adorable, she’s my little angel, Zachary Hanson thought.

He watched tentatively as his six year old daughter, Jenny, played in the front yard. For six years he had raised her all by himself. She was so cute. Just then a little boy that had just moved in across the street came up to her.

His name was Anthony.

He was seven.

"Can I play with you?" he asked. Jenny smiled to him and looked over to her father. Zac nodded, so Jenny agreed. They played with the toys that were scattered across the yard. When Zac took his eyes away for a few seconds to grab the paper from inside, Anthony planted a kiss on Jenny’s cheek.

Zac came back out, not knowing what had gone on. He continued to watch as the two children laughed and played, having the best time of their lives. Jenny noticed her father watching and blew a kiss to him.

Jenny’s going on her first date.

She’s going with Anthony.

She’s adorable, she’s my little angel.

Zac watched tentatively as his fifteen year old daughter came down the staircase with a beautiful dress on. For fifteen years he had raised her all by himself. They were going to a dance and it was mandatory that they dress nicely. Zac let out a low whistle.

"My little girl’s growing up," he told her.

The doorbell rang, there came a knock at the door and the door opened. Ritual for Anthony. When he came, he rang the doorbell, knocked and then came on in.

He was wearing a dress pants, shirt, and a nice tie. Zac smiled to him. That boy was alright.

As the two walked out of the front door and to Anthony’s car—he was old enough to drive—Zac saw his six year old daughter walk away. Jenny noticed her father watching and blew a kiss to him before getting in the car.

Jenny’s getting married now.

She’s getting married to Anthony.

She’s adorable, she’s my little angel.

Zac watched tentatively as his 22 year old daughter looked over her wedding gown. A simple tear came to his eye. For 22 years he raised her all by himself. What started out as a simple friendship turned into marriage.

"Daddy, it’s time," she said as she put down her veil. He offered his arm and she took it. The music started, everyone watched. Flower girls and the ring bearer and all the bridesmaids walked down the aisle.

The music grew louder and into the familiar wedding tune. Jenny and her father appeared. He wouldn’t take his eyes off of her until she had to go. He stepped off to the side and sighed.

Zac looked on and saw his six year old daughter getting married. Jenny noticed her father watching and blew him a kiss.

Jenny’s getting buried.

Anthony is right next to her.

She’s adorable, she’s my little angel.

Zac watched tentatively as his 33 year old daughter was laid to rest in the ground. He held back his tears, not knowing what had happened to his daughter, and her life love.

"Zac, it’s time we leave," Taylor said, placing a hand on his younger brother’s shoulder. Zac turned to his brother and nodded, wiping away the tears in his eyes. For 33 years he’d raised her by himself. Even if 11 of those years she was with her own family. She’d never had a child, he’d never have a chance of being a grandfather.

The cloudy day seemed darker as Zac walked slowly through the cemetery, his life now alone. He turned back, not being able to leave. In the tombstone he saw his six year old daughter laying at rest.

This time he noticed her watching from above and blew a kiss.
