A week later, Taylor and Angela had grown even closer. From the time she entered the house, to the time she put him to sleep, they spent all the time talking away like old best friends. Angela was the friend that Taylor needed, and needed badly. Angela needed him too, but more than she thought.
Angela appeared in Taylors room, and was pleased that he was in the room. She had some exciting news to share with her best friends. She could barely hold in her excitement as she tapped him on the shoulder. He turned and smiled. "Hey!" he said.
"Oh my God Taylor you will never guess what happened to me and mom!" Angela said, almost shrieking with excitement. He crumpled up a piece of paper and threw it at the garbage can.
"What you found out that you are actually insane and youre really not making it all up?" Taylor joked, and then spun around in his chair, his arms up, when the paper landed inside the garbage. Angela ignored the comment, she was in too good of a mood to let it annoy her.
"We won the lottery!!" Angela shrieked, and then screamed to let out her excitement. Taylor let his mouth drop as Angela toppled him in a hug. "Isnt that great? We have money again!" She was too excited.
"Oh my God," Taylor said. He couldnt believe it, and he couldnt be happier. He had been upset before that his friend didnt even have a radio to hear his songs playing, and now she could finally afford to buy one. "Lets dance."
"Huh?"
"Lets dance. Im too excited to lay on the floor." Angela found the whole thing bizarre, but didnt mind. Taylor flipped on the radio, and grabbed her hands. To her surprise, he was rather good at it. He didnt bump into her or step on her at all.
The song on the radio was extremely upbeat, so Angela had to survive a world of twists and turns that he put her through. She hadnt danced much at all in her lifetime, but this was pure fun. It didnt matter if she sucked. The both of them were laughing hysterically, feeling like small children playing in the park.
Any sign of negativity that had been in Taylor was gone now. Now he was happy. The family noticed the significant difference in him, and liked it. Angela brought out emotions in Taylor he never knew he had, and sent his depression far away. Everything was just right now.
The tempo of the music slowed, and stayed that way. Taylor looked at Angela, who looked right back. It was an awkward moment. "What the hell?" Taylor asked. "It wouldnt hurt." Angela let herself smile as he pulled her close and they started to sway.
Their laughing had ceased now, and the room was quiet. Taylor broke the silence. "You have no idea how much I need to thank you for changing my life," he quietly said. Her smile grew. "Thank you."
"Thats what I came here to do, Taylor." She put her head on his shoulder. "I was sent here to help you, and thats what I did." He tightened his grip on her waist. She could tell the moment had been dramatically changed now.
"Are you going to leave now that things are better?" He was almost afraid to say it. "Are you going to leave, Angel?" She closed her eyes, wondering the same thing. They were too close now, it was hard to even think about being separated. To be away from each other.
"I dont know," she whispered. "All I know is that I want to stay here with you. Youre my only friend" Taylor cut her off, confused. She had the perfect personality, she was so sociable. Why didnt she have any friends?
"Dont you have friends at school?" She sighed and thought about them. The taunting, the worry, everything. Even though the taunting had stopped now, no one dared talk to her. They were still afraid of her.
"They hate me at school. All the kids call me a freak just because Im different. Im not that different, Taylor. Im still a person. None of them know when to quit." Taylor realized they had stopped swaying. He put his fingers through her hair, trying to calm her. How ironic that she actually had the power to do that. "At least you dont think Im a freak."
"If I ever thought about it youd whoop my ass." She giggled. She had giggled again! It upset her to no end that she was giggling. "Im guessing you would." A knock at the door caused the two to jump apart. Taylor unlocked and opened the door, only to find himself confused. Angela gasped. "Whore you?" he asked.
"Im here for Angela." It was the Maker of Dreams. He was there to take Angela back. He couldnt of done it at a worse time. Taylor was still confused. "Only if the promise is you, remember, Angela?"
"What?" she said. "I thought this was my promise!" The Maker had to laugh. "So I was wrong." The Maker grabbed Angelas arm. She grew worried, not understanding it all. "Where exactly are we going?"
"Youre coming with me." Taylor watched, blankly. He could see the Maker perfectly, and it seemed that he could see Angela. Angela grabbed onto Taylor and dragged him. The Maker didnt notice. The three disappeared.
The appeared in the white room. Angela remembered this from when the Maker had given her the charm. The Room of Dreams. Taylor could see Angela now. She was beautiful. Angela felt his stare, and looked away. She knew she wasnt looking her best, and she knew he could see her.
"Ahh!" The Maker said, seeing Taylor. Taylor was too busy staring at Angela to notice anything the Maker said. Why did she have to be beautiful? "Youre not supposed to be here! I have things to do."
Angela looked afraid as Taylor was sent back to his house. Taylor found himself back in his room, confused. "Angela?" he called out. Nothing. Taylor sighed, and fell back onto the bed.
A sudden scream broke the silence. Taylor recognized it as Angelas. He jumped up, looking around. He couldnt get her image out of his head. She was amazing, more amazing than he had pictured. She was beautiful, but wasnt as beautiful as a model or anything. She was beautiful in the sense that, well, she was just beautiful.
It didnt match her personality, but Taylor liked her all the same. Suddenly Taylor didnt want to think about it. He opened the door and his little brother was just about to knock.
"Taylor!" Mackenzie said. "What happened to Angel?" Taylor sighed, upset. He looked down at the boy. Angela had been as much as to Mackenzie as she was to Taylor. The boy hadnt heard the scream, but knew she was gone.
"She had to leave."
"Shes not coming back, is she Taylor?" the boy asked. Taylor pushed him down the hall, not answering. Again he heard her scream. Shrill, loud, painful. It hurt him to hear it. "I know where she is. Shes with the guy I saw. I see him in my dreams." Taylor stopped and kneeled down.
"Do you know where he took her?" he asked. The boy shrugged, uncertain. "Try. We need to find her." Taylor paused, glancing around. He didnt want to say it, but he knew he had to. "I think shes in trouble." Isaac walked up the stairs. He stopped when he saw the two. Time to snoop.
"But the man is always so nice to me," Mackenzie said, not understanding. "He told me about Angel before she came. He said she was going to help you."
Taylor nodded, smiling. "She did! Angela helped me. Me and her are good friends now. I owe it to her to get her back" Isaac had to interrupt.
"Excuse me. I know Im not supposed to be listening, but how do you know Taylors friend?" Isaac asked, startling the both of them. Taylor grew frantic and stood. This was the last thing he needed.
"Ike shes an angel!" Taylor laughed nervously and picked up the boy. Isaac looked confused, but only grew more worried over his brothers. Taylor was now getting Mackenzie into the whole mess.
"Were finishing this conversation in my room." Taylor ran into his room, slamming the door behind him. He made sure to lock it. Isaac was still curious, so he put his ear to the door and listened in. "Didnt Angela tell you to keep quiet about it? No one should know, so we have to keep it a secret." Taylor sighed. "I saw her. Shes pretty, just like you said. That guy took her and Ive been hearing her scream. I need you to help me out."
"Shes in dreamland, Taylor. In the main building of dreamland. The guy who took her is the guy who makes dreams." The boy smiled, knowing something Taylor didnt. By the looks of it, it was important.
"Mackenzie, whats that youre hiding? Please, tell me. I need to know or Angela wont be safe." The boy only smiled. Taylor looked around the room and saw a Twix candy bar on the table. He snatched it and waved it in front of the boys face. "If you tell me, you can have this." Mackenzie went to grab it, but Taylor only kept it out of his reach. "Tell me first."
"I know how to get her out." Taylor let the boy have the bar and waited for him to explain.
