You were our friend. You were someone I trusted. YOU STOLE MY INNOCENCE! I was eleven. You said that I was grown-up for my age. I didn't know what that meant. YOU STOLE MY INNOCENCE! You told me I was pretty. You said it wouldn't hurt. I blocked it all out. YOU STOLE MY INNOCENCE! I told no one because I was ashamed. You made me lie to my family. You said to trust you. YOU STOLE MY INNOCENCE! I have seen you since, these years, in different shapes and forms. They all talk like you and promise the same things. YOU STOLE MY INNOCENCE! Some of the faces said I was pretty, but that I should wear more make-up. Some said I looked good in clothes, then told me what to wear. YOU STOLE MY INNOCENCE! I now know the signs! I see your kind at family functions, at church socials, even at the store. But now, I see you coming! YOU WILL NOT STEAL MY INNOCENCE, AGAIN! I know you, and you can't hurt me anymore! |
