John Sharp
~John Gilbert Sharp~
My great grandfather John G. Sharp was the great
grandson of Boston Graves. John Sharp was born in
Pulaski Co., KY on Feb. 7, 1845 to Henry and
Celia (Freeman) Sharp
. He fought with the
Union Army's 49th KY Infantry, Co. I from
Aug. 1863 to Dec. 1864.
He was injured during the Civil War and received
a pension (#185656) for the remainder of his life.
After the war he married Martha Weddle in 1869.
They settled near Cain Store, KY in Pulaski Co. where
he became a school teacher. John and Martha were
the parents of 7 children, their youngest was my
grandmother Sophia Sharp Gregory/Bell.
John Sharp died March 26, 1925 and is buried at
Faubush, KY in the Weddle Cemetery.

Claiborn ~ Grave of Claib Gregory
~Claiborn Hansberry Gregory ~ His Grave~
Brothers Claiborn and Sidney Gregory were born in
the area of Big Sinking Creek in Wayne Co, KY to
Claiborn and Mary (Decker) Gregory.
During the Civil War both men signed up for one year
of service and fought with the Union's 30th KY
Infantry Co. D
. After the war both married and
they farmed for a living. Each married three times and
raised large families near Rocky Branch, KY
Sidney (my Dad's family) was born April 1, 1833 and
married my g-g-grandmother Sophronia Bell in 1860.
Claiborn (my Mom's family) was born Sept. 1, 1846 and
married my g-grandmother Nancy Slagle in 1878.
Claiborn died July 25, 1925 and his brother Sidney
died on March 28, 1913. Both men are buried in the
Grant Roberts Cemetery at Rocky Branch, KY.
