Andy and Brandon's Launcher
What you Need
-
About 50 or less nails or screws (which ever you prefer to use).
-
2"x2" boards for the body (amount depending on how big you want it
to be).
-
2 exercise toning bands
-
1 pillow that you don't mind getting rid of (this is used to make the
launching more comfortable)
-
1 wash rag that you don't mind getting rid of (for the pouch)
-
1 bucket that will fit your size launcher (optional).
-
Plenty of duck tape or packing tape (the amount needed depends on
how much you mess up)
How it Works
The launcher works buy using only one person to stretch the elastic
bands and let go of them. First you will place the object you plan
to shoot in the pouch. Make sure that both bands are fairly close
together and near the top (this will increase shooting distance). You
sit on the back part of it and pull back on the bands making sure the
object doesn't fall out. Once you have pulled the bands until they
will not pull any more, you simply let go of the bands. After you do
this a few times, you should find the way most comfortable for you.
Types of Ammo
Objects that can be launched:
-
water balloons
-
eggs
- golf balls
-
tennis balls
-
rocks
-
basically any other fairly light and round object
Extra Information
Making the launcher requires quite a bit of work, but it pays off.
Also, having certain tools (hammer, drill, saw, scissors, and a open
work area) help a lot and make the building process much easier and
more enjoyable. There are no exact measurements on the launcher
because we know not everyone is perfect and you need room for
mistakes.
Building Instructions
(Please read all intructions before you build)
-
Obtain the needed materials.
-
Build the square base from 4 2x2's attached together (nails or
screws)
-
Place 1 or 2 2x2's horizontally across the base for support.
-
Place 2 2x2's on the end that the bands will be on. These should
be placed upright to have a place for the bands to be attached.
-
Place a shorter 2x2 at about the middle or lower part of the
uprights for supports. Also place a 2x2 at the corner of one upright
and the base to the other upright and the base for support.
-
Cut 2 2x2's and place them between the 2x2 that goes between the
uprights and the base.
-
This is the tricky one. Cut the angles of the corner of one of
the support beams and and the base and the desired height on the
respective upright. Do the same for the other side. I know this is
confusing, but you can also try to figure it out by using the picture.
-
Make a pouch by folding a wash cloth in half and folding the ends
around each band and taping it together (you might figure out an
easier way).
-
Place screws on the outside of each band on the uprights to make
sure the bands don't slide out of place.
-
Tape the pillow down to the back end of the base at the place you
will be sitting (this makes a world of difference).
-
If you want a place to hold your ammo, you can make a ammo holder
using a bucket that will fit you size launcher. You put holes where
you will be attaching it and nail or screw it to the base supports.
If you will be using this to launch water balloons, I would suggest
making drainage holes.
-
Once you are finished, you are free to add any extras you would
like and have fun!
If you don't like our design, or your not man enough to test out your
carpentry ability, try these web sites to build a launcher. If you definantly
don't want to test your abilities, you can also buy a launcher.
