| "I maybe the candle, but she is the Light" Rough sketch, 10/2003CE Drawn at a time that was most confusing for me, this piece gave me the incentive to continue my art--I was not gonna quit, but I questioned the concept that all of my work is based upon. Obviously, the candle is a masculine symbol and the flame of the tip is the feminine aspect in all of its idealized glory. But there is a little more to it:THe outline of the candle, flame, and rays thereof is in the form of a Mushroom cloud, which adds to the "profundity of Love" and also the nature of Duality. Creation by Destruction, or vice versa. |
| "Beware: the Extinguishers of Light, for it is They who own the Night" Black ink on paper 10/2003CE Like the previous piece, this one depicts light, but of another source: the cold sterility of Fluorescent fixtures devoid of any sense of warmth, but they are luminous...even moreso than our humble candle. The figures left arm is raised, relentless in its mission to extinguish anything that dares stand against it...What threat does the candle hold? Perhaps Only THe extinguisher knows... |
