| RAF Brize Norton is one of the largest RAF bases there is. Sat in deepest rural Oxfordshire, but with RAF Lyneham, RAF Benson, RAF Fairford, and RAF Odiham not too far away. It is the home to Transport fleet. VC10, Tristar, and C17 are 'at home' at Brize. Other aircraft come and go as visitors. The camp program is still something of a closely guarded secret but being Brize Norton, with lots of multi-engined, multi-seated aircraft there is a better than average chance of flying in any of a multitude of aircraft - VC10 tankers, Tristars, C17, Hercules, and so on. The camp WILL include a visit to Benson to fly AEF in the TUTOR aircraft, and providing your week has suitably qualified STAFF you will shoot the 5.56 L98 (subject to meeting the required standards and criteria) Trips out may well include a half day trip into OXFORD, although there are a range of other places nearby that you couldd visit instead. The last time we had cadets even CLOSE to brize, they came back withsome FABULOUS photographs of Air-to-Air refuelling Make sure you have film/batteries for your camera. |
