 Soo-Young Kim (Hong ) Color has been a source of happiness
and joy for me. I have fond memories of
my mother teaching me about colors through sewing fabrics.
It was a simple time, yet these memories are
very dear to me and impact my artwork to this day.
I can truly say that my use of vibrant colors
keeps me young at heart.My love for
flowers has constant within
my life. Recently, I have grown fond of
orchids. Their complexities range in
shape, color, and presentation and yet their all possess commonalities
that tie
them all into one family. The
intricacies of each flower can only be seen upon close inspection and
the
simplicity of each one is striking. This
complex yet simple creation has been the inspiration for my paintings.
It is with this youthful joy that I have painted these paintings.
