Gay Bashing Victim Leaps To Death

(London) A Blackpool man who suffered depression after a vicious homophobic attack that left him disfigured has plunged to his death from a railway bridge. Stuart Windsor was attacked by a neighbor in a drug-fuelled homophobic last October. Windsor was slashed with a knife and needed 114 stitches in his face. He lost lost two pints of blood and nearly died. He was left with deep scars and his family this week said that Windsor was afraid to leave the home he shared with his partner of five years John Carr. Witnesses told police they saw a man sitting on the bridge parapet, but by the time officers arrived he had already jumped, suffering fatal head injuries. "We knew he wasn't dealing with things after the attack, but I never thought anything like this would happen," his sister Sandra told the Blackpool Gazette. "The attack really affected Stuart badly, he became very depressed and felt he couldn't go out, it really knocked his confidence," she said. "He was very self conscious because of the scars and he was scared of something like that happening again. "I don't know why someone would do that to another person." Windsor's attacker, Thomas Bampton, 47, is serving a five years prison sentence. An inquest will be held into Windsor's death.
